Elijah Wood, best known as Frodo Baggins in ‘The Lord of the Rings‘ trilogy, has confirmed that Leo Woodall will play a younger Aragorn in the highly anticipated ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.‘

While speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Elijah Wood confirmed the cast when asked about the reports. “Right, that is true,” he said, adding, “Those are tough boots, I can’t imagine, but that’s gonna be great.“

This is a big moment for ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.’ The story will explore the perilous 17-year-old gap between Bilbo’s 111th birthday and Frodo leaving the Shire. It focuses on Aragorn, then known as Strider, as he teams up with Gandalf to track down Gollum, who holds key information about the One Ring.
Andy Serkis, who originally played Gollum using motion capture in ‘The Lord of the Rings‘ film trilogy, is directing the film and will return to play the character again.

Leo Woodall, who is now only 29, brings a new energy to a role made famous by Viggo Mortensen in ‘The Lord of the Rings‘ trilogy. He first gained attention with his performance in season 2 of ‘The White Lotus,’ and later showed more ranged in ‘One Day,’ ‘Nuremberg,’ and the series ‘Vladimir‘ alongside Rachel Weisz.

There is also a fun detail that fans can enjoy. As a kid, Woodall used to pretend he was Aragorn while playing at home, which makes this casting feel even more special.
As per new reports, Woodall’s version of Aragorn will focus on the character’s earlier years when he is still a wandering ranger, figuring out his path before becoming a king.
Returning Cast and Exciting New Additions for The Hunt for Gollum

The film is coming together as a mix of nostalgia and something new. Ian McKellen is expected to return as Gandalf, and there are reports that Kate Winslet has joined the cast in a role that has not been revealed yet.
Elijah has already previously shared how excited he is with the project, calling it “getting the band back together.” He has not officially confirmed whether he will return as Frodo, but he has made it clear that he would not want anyone else to step into the role of the well-known hobbit.
