Filming sex scenes for movies could be awkward and intimidating — more so when it’s a homosexual scene. After making movies like ‘Call Me By Your Name’ and ‘Challangers‘, director Luca Guadagnino has directed another queer film, titled ‘Queer‘ — and he hasn’t held back when it comes to steamy scenes.
The movie will follow two homosexual characters played by actors Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey. While both stars are known straight men, shooting some steamy scenes on-screen could have been a task for them. But they seem to have had fun while doing it. Here’s what they said about filming sex scenes.
Drew Starkey Spills The Tea On His Steamy Scenes With Daniel Craig In ‘Queer’
‘Queer’ follows the story of Drew Starkey’s Eugene Allerton and Daniel Craig’s William Lee. Set in 1940’s Mexico City, William Falls in love with Eugene who is described as a “drug-addicted Navy Serviceman”.
Of course, they both had to shoot some steamy scenes and Starkey is here for it. In his recent interview with Variety, the 30-year-old actor shared his experience with such scenes.
“You treat it like you would any other thing. You’re more precious with it and you communicate more on the day about people’s comfort levels,” he said.

The ‘Outer Banks‘ actor continued, “But Daniel and I were just game for anything. We just were like, ‘Let’s go for it, let’s have fun.’ So he was a great partner. I think him and I share that same mentality of just not giving a sh*t,” he continued.
Drew Starkey Feels Filming Sex Scenes Made The Best Days On Set
Both Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey felt comfortable while filming such scenes also because of director Luca. He talked with them months in advance to make them familiar with everything.
As Starkey explained, “And Luca was so specific — he wanted us to be as comfortable as possible throughout that process, and we would block off where these intimate scenes would happen and we talked months in advance about what we thought it should be. It was also like a dance. We were trying to figure it out.”

As both the actors enjoyed the process of filming such scenes, Starkey feels these were the best days on set. “But those were some of the most fun days I think we all had on set — just Daniel and I laughing,” he said.
