The ‘Scary Movie‘ franchise is gearing up for another outrageous comeback, and Marlon Wayans is already warning audiences about what’s coming.
The actor has confirmed that he will reprise his iconic role as Shorty Meeks in ‘Scary Movie 6‘, and he’s making it clear that the new film will stay true to the franchise’s wild and fearless comedic style.
Marlon Wayans Claims ‘Scary Movie 6’ Will Offend Everyone

In an interview with EW, Marlon Wayans opened up about what fans can expect from ‘Scary Movie 6‘. According to him, the film will not hold back on jokes. In fact, he says the goal is to bring back the kind of comedy that made people laugh loudly in theaters.

“What we’re trying to do is bring back laughter. This is about bringing back comedy the way it used to be. I think the only way to do it is you have to cancel the cancel culture”, said Wayans. While his statements might be true, films have been restricted by online backlash despite offering unique, fresh concepts.
Because of that approach, the new film will stick to the franchise’s classic style of humor. Wayans made it clear that ‘Scary Movie 6‘ will make fun of everyone equally. In fact, he said the filmmakers see themselves as “equal opportunity offenders,” meaning no group, trend, or movie will be completely safe from their jokes.
The Next ‘Scary Movie’ Might Finally Revive The Horror Comedy Genre

At the same time, Wayans believes the reason the ‘Scary Movie‘ films work so well comes from the way he and his family were raised. Their sense of humor, he explained, grew out of their home environment and the comedic style they inherited from their mother. As he put it, the formula hasn’t changed.

“We’re gonna do what we always do. We’re gonna make fun of everybody,” Wayans said. He also pointed out that the franchise follows a very specific recipe for comedy that other films have tried to copy but never quite managed to recreate. That same formula helped the original ‘Scary Movie‘ become a massive hit when it first hit theaters in 2000.
Now, with several members of the Wayans family returning, the sixth film is clearly aiming to recapture that same chaotic, fearless energy. Of course, pushing boundaries with comedy can be tricky, and Wayans knows that.
While the jokes will definitely go far, he says the team still tries to keep the tone playful. They like to be fearless, but they also approach topics carefully so audiences can laugh along rather than feel attacked.
