Matt Damon has worked with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars over the years, but one younger actor has clearly left a lasting impression on him.
While promoting his latest project, the Oscar winner could not stop praising Tom Holland, even joking that he wishes he could call the Spider-Man star his own son. Holland’s instant response only made the wholesome exchange even more memorable.
Matt Damon Says Tom Holland Feels Like A Younger Version Of Himself

Damon recently shared how much he admires Tom Holland, revealing that the young actor reminds him of himself during the early days of his own career. Damon also highlighted his professionalism, humility, and the way he treats people on set.

Speaking about Holland, Damon said, “He’s accomplished more than I had by that time, but just great choices, unbelievably professional and kind to everybody.”
The actor then made an unexpected and heartfelt remark. Looking at Holland with admiration, Damon added, “I just wish I could claim him as a son.”
Tom Holland did not need much time to respond after hearing Damon’s playful comment. Instead of feeling awkward, the British actor immediately joined in on the joke and gave an answer that made everyone laugh.
When asked whether he would accept Damon as his dad, Holland replied without hesitation, “Oh god, yeah! He’s way cooler than my dad.”
Holland Has Already Spoken About Learning From Damon In ‘The Odyssey’

This is not the first time Tom Holland has spoken highly of Matt Damon. Earlier this year, during an interview with GQ, Holland reflected on working closely with the Oscar winner while filming Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey‘. Since Holland plays Telemachus, the son of Damon’s Odysseus, the two spent a lot of time together on set.

Looking back on the experience, Holland praised Damon’s leadership and professionalism. He said, “I mean, we spent so much time together, and what I’m really grateful for with Matt is that he is exactly what I would have hoped he would be like. He was a leader.”
The actor continued, “This was a very tough movie and no one worked harder than Matt did. And he always came to set with a smile on his face and he was gracious and he was so kind to the crew. And I think he really set the tone for everyone as to how we were going to collectively make this film.”
Holland also revealed that Damon shared personal advice with him, although he chose to keep those conversations private. “So there are words of wisdom that he’s given me that I’ll keep to myself, but there’s a lot that I learned from him from just being a spectator on set and watching the legend that is Matt Damon work.”
As excitement builds for ‘The Odyssey‘, the bond between Matt Damon and Tom Holland has become one of the film’s most heartwarming stories.
