The first film, released on Prime Video, garnered much praise and attention from fans and went on to become one of the most loved LGBTQ movies, with both the actors earning acclaim for their roles. Here’s everything we know about the sequel.
Is A Sequel To ‘Red, White And Royal Blue’ In The Works?
According to a May 10 announcement from Amazon MGM Studios, ‘Red, White & Royal Blue‘s sequel is in the works. Director and co-writer of the movie, Matthew Lopez, is working with writer Casey McQuiston, who wrote the 2019 original material, to create a brand-new script for the follow-up.

While Taylor Zakhar Perez walked the red carpet, the actor dished details on if the film will also have a third part and said, “I think I hoped. Because it was a great book and it kind of left you hanging after you read it. I hope that there’s three of them. It could be a nice trilogy.”
He then added, “I talked to Casey, I talked to Matthew and it’s just continuing to grow these two characters. Because we just saw a slice of who these guys are and what they are able to do now.”
What Is ‘Red, White And Royal Blue’ About?
‘Red, White & Royal Blue‘ is an adaptation of writer-director Matthew López’s 2019 adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s book. On August 11, 2023, the film made its debut on the streaming site and completely won fans over. The film also starred actors Stephen Fry, Uma Thurman, Akshay Khanna, Aneesh Sheth, Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, and Ellie Bamber.

Nicholas played Prince Henry, the second in line for the British throne, while Taylor played Alex Claremont-Diaz, the son of US President Ellen Claremont (Thurman). The film explores their relationship as they go from enemies to lovers and then fight for their love in a society where their parents are pedestalized individuals.
