‘Dune: Part Three‘ is already building anticipation as Denis Villeneuve prepares the next chapter of Frank Herbert’s epic sci-fi saga. While production of the film has been underway since July 2025, attention has increasingly turned toward what this next installment will reveal.

The Bene Gesserit, the Spacing Guild, and the bio-engineering masters known as the Tleilaxu all start plotting behind the scenes. Their shared goal soon becomes clear. They want to remove Paul from power or even kill him before his control becomes impossible to challenge.
At the same time, the tension surrounding Paul is not limited to political rivals. Trouble also begins to develop within his own household. His chosen wife, Princess Irulan, and his Fremen true love, Chani, find themselves locked in an intense struggle over Paul and the future of the Atreides bloodline. Gradually, this silent rivalry deepens as the broader political situation grows more dangerous.
The Turning Point That Could Influence The Whole Galaxy In The Next ‘Dune’ Movie
Eventually, the pressure surrounding Paul reaches a critical point. The conspiracy forming across the empire and the growing tension within his own family start pushing events toward a decisive confrontation.
As these forces collide, the story builds toward a major skirmish that ultimately settles the balance of power in the galaxy once and for all. Dune Messiah moves the focus from Paul’s rise to power to the complicated consequences of that power. Herbert also introduces several science-fiction ideas that push the universe of ‘Dune’ into far stranger territory than before.

For instance, one of the most unusual developments involves the transformation of Planet Arrakis. Through this process, they are transforming into something far beyond ordinary humans and are opening the door to a much more unusual future for the Atreides lineage.
Because of these developments, the story naturally leads into the next chapter of Herbert’s saga, ‘Children of Dune‘. That continuation focuses on Paul’s descendants and his sister, the character audiences briefly saw being born in ‘Dune: Part Two‘. As a result, the franchise could potentially move forward with a different timeline. In fact, there may even be new cast members if the story continues.
Interestingly, Timothée Chalamet has already suggested that the upcoming film may mark the end of his own journey. During ‘a CNN & Variety Town Hall Event’, Chalamet reflected on his experience filming the third installment. He explained that they treated every moment carefully because it was their last time working on a ‘Dune‘ film.
“I didn’t want to be complacent about a single moment. Everything was sacred,” Chalamet said. He added that he felt more intense in the third movie because he wanted to push against the franchise’s natural momentum.
Ultimately, ‘Dune: Part Three‘ appears ready to take the story into its most complex and unpredictable territory yet.
