‘The Marvels’ And ‘Ant-Man 3’ Swap Their Release Dates

Marvel Studios has published 27 films so far, starting from Iron Man to Spider-Man: No Way Home. As well as six television shows likes of WandaVision to Moon Knight. These films and television series, as well as the studio’s One-Shots, all have a common thread running through them. Marvel Television’s television series acknowledges the continuity as well.

Disney said on Friday that the Marvel Studios films “The Marvels” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” will have different release dates.

Two Of The Upcoming Marvel Movies Swap Release Dates

    The Marvels",  "Ant-Man

The Marvels,” the follow-up to 2019’s “Captain Marvel,” Planned to hit cinemas on February 17, 2023, and “Quantumania,” the third installment in the “Ant-Man” franchise, on July 28, 2023. Instead, “Quantumania” will be released now first in February, followed by “The Marvels” in July.

According to insiders, this was due to “Quantumania” being further advanced in its creative process than “The Marvels,” since the former has completed principal filming.

“The Marvels” still has a ways to go. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” Marvel Studios’ second major theatrical release in 2023, is still planned to open on May 5, 2023.

The release date shuffle is sure to raise suspicions among Marvel Cinematic Universe aficionados. It implies that the 2023 feature films aren’t as tightly tied as previous MCU films.

“Quantumania” is set to continue the multiverse storyline that began with the Disney+ series “Loki” in 2021.  Starring Jonathan Majors as He Who Remains, whose death in the MCU opened the multiverse.

Majors will portray the primary villain, The variation of his “Loki” character, Kang the Conqueror, in “Quantumania.” “Quantumania” stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer, as well as filmmaker Peyton Reed.

    Captain Marvel

“The Marvels” will have a tie-in with two Disney+ shows: WandaVision and Ms. Marvel. It will premiere in 2021 and will star Teyonah Parris as adult Monica Rambeau.

“Ms. Marvel” will premiere in June and will star Iman Vellani as Captain Marvel superfan Kamala Khan. Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) will be played by Brie Larson again, with Nia DaCosta ‘Candyman’  directing the film.

“Quantumania” was supposed to premiere in February 2023, however, it was pushed back. However, it was pushed back for first time in October when Disney pushed back Marvel’s entire 2022 theatrical slate.

This delay in phase IV allowed more time for “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” to finish filming and post-production, as well as to accommodate production delays on “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” due to star Letitia Wright’s injury.

“Doctor Strange 2” is the next MCU film to be released, and it will hit cinemas on May 6.
