Todd explained that he feels that the upcoming film Has fully explored the world and characters they set out to portray. “It was fun to play in this sort of sandbox for two movies. But I think we’ve said what we wanted to say in this world,” he stated.

However, given the immense success of the first two Joker films, it’s difficult to imagine Warner Bros. completely abandoning this franchise. If ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ manages to replicate, or even surpass, the box office performance of its predecessors, the studio may be tempted to revisit the world.

Additionally, they would want Todd to return and make an offer he won’t be able to resist. Moreover, despite the bad news, Todd had a lot to say about the upcoming film. He explained that it was very hard to top the first film which grossed over $1 billion.

However, he believes that adding the musical element to the upcoming film will top that. Even Lady Gaga praised Todd’s excellence. “There’s music, there’s dance, it’s a drama, it’s also a courtroom drama, it’s a comedy, it’s happy, it’s sad. It’s a testament to Todd as a director,” she stated.

Rather than exploring the Joker’s dark side, Phillips stated that he wanted to make a comedian. The director, who has previously worked on comedy classics like ‘The Hangover’ and ‘Old School,’ is convinced that people in the world need comedy.

He also suggested that he might collaborate with Joaquin Phoenix on a comedy film. Moreover, while Phillips’ statement may disappoint fans eager for more Joker-centric content, it also opens up exciting possibilities for the director. A return to comedy would undoubtedly be welcomed by many.

In addition, the prospect of a Phoenix-Phillips comedy collaboration is undeniably intriguing. Ultimately, only time will tell if Phillips will stick to his decision. Moreover, the allure of the Joker franchise, coupled with the potential for massive financial success, could prove to be a powerful temptation.
