Blake Lively‘s ‘It Ends With Us’ has long been a center of negative attention as many opposed the book being made into a film. Once it was announced, many spoke up against the casting choices as well.
Though the film has received a lot of positive praise after its release, many are also calling out the main actress Blake Lively for how she is promoting the film, given its depiction of the serious themes that were present in the book. Here’s everything you need to know.

Why Is Blake Lively Getting Hate After ‘It Ends With Us’?
‘It Ends With Us‘ has been making headlines for quite a while now. The film was already a major source of discussion because of its adaptation and casting. However, Blake Lively’s style of promotion wasn’t appreciated by many who called her out for being tone-deaf and ignoring the film’s central, serious themes.
Lively showed up in gorgeous floral dresses to promote the film and even sneaked in a reference to her new hair care brand in between. But as fans pointed out, she did not, in fact, discuss or refer to the underlying issues that the book tried to explore, including issues of domestic violence and physical abuse.
This was highly contrasted by Justin Baldoni’s style of promoting the film, who constantly brought up the issues the movie was trying to discuss. “The message is the most important thing. That’s why [Colleen] wrote the book,” Baldoni told Today.
“I was always thinking about the outcome and the why, and the one woman I was making this for who would sit in that theater and maybe not go back to her abusive relationship,” she said.
In another CBS interview, he said, “The question that’s always asked is, ‘Why did she stay?’ That’s the wrong question. What we need to be asking ourselves is, ‘Why do men harm?’ It was not an easy story to tell, and yet it was profoundly important. I’ve learned so much.”

Fans React To Blake Lively’s Style Of Promoting ‘It Ends With Us’
Fans called Blake Lively out on social media for her wrongly positive attitude towards the film and for not promoting it accurately. Many talked about how she used the film’s promo events as a chance to promote her own hair care brand and her brand of drinks – Betty Booze.
One fan wrote about how Blake is promoting the film as if it were a romantic comedy, instead of a serious film about domestic violence.
And her hair care brand launch. I thought it was a romcom until I saw a tiktok about it!! The marketing strategy is certainly a choice.

Another fan wrote about how she promoted her hair care brand in the middle of the movie promotions.
Blake Lively releasing and promoting her hair care brand when she’s supposed to be promoting a movie about domestic violence is insane… like every interview of hers she’s talking as if that movie is a rom com??? i’m so confused

It’s not a rom com for fucks sake the book is *literally* about domestic abuse .. if I see one more blake lively story about a bumpkin on a farm or whatever like apparently she’s promoting shampoo-?! you should be ashamed girl. Or at least feel slightly stupid. Respect to Baldoni https://t.co/uBanvBRHmc

More fans called her out for promoting the film as if it were a romantic comedy.
Can we all please remember that ‘It Ends With Us’ is about DV & not a cutesy floral rom com 👍🏻 it should be promoted as a survival story not a love story. It can trigger a lot of people if they aren’t aware & just see Blake Lively is a movie with a pretty floral poster

it ends with us, is a book about domestic violence. Colleen Hoover doesn’t think so cause she fetishisizes DV, this is a sexual fantasy for her. Ofcourse she would side with Blake lively for trynna make this a lighthearted rom com they are both sick and disgusting

Blake Lively has not yet responded to the backlash. ‘It Ends With Us’ is available to watch in theatres now.
