10 Biggest Clubs Who Haven’t Won Champions League Yet
No Champions League
These are some of the biggest clubs in Europe who haven't won the Champions League yet.
Napoli
Serie A giants Napoli is among the big European clubs that have never won the UCL. Despite their famous era with Diego Maradona, where they won the UEFA Cup, and the Italian league title, the ultimate club trophy remains elusive, as their best run saw them reach the quarter-finals during the 2022-23 Champions League season.
Eintracht Frankfurt
German giants Eintracht Frankfurt never laid hands on the Champions League trophy, with their best-ever finish being runners-up in the 1959–60 European Cup. They reached the final where they were defeated 7-3 by Real Madrid at Hampden Park in Glasgow, and the match remains one of the highest-scoring finals in the competition's history.
Monaco
One of the strongest clubs in France, AS Monaco never won the UCL title, having reached the final in the 2003-04 season under coach Didier Deschamps. They had a memorable run, eliminating powerhouses like Real Madrid and Chelsea, but ultimately lost the final 3-0 to Jose Mourinho's Porto in Gelsenkirchen in Germany.
Bayer Leverkusen
Having earned the nickname 'Neverkusen' until recently, German giants Bayer Leverkusen biggest European achievement to date is being the runner-up in the 2002 UCL final, where they lost 2-1 to Real Madrid. Their historic 2001-02 season saw the team, featuring stars like Michael Ballack, achieve an infamous treble of second-place finishes.
Stade de Reims
One of the biggest French teams of the previous era, Stade de Reims has never won the UEFA Champions League title, while finishing runners-up twice, losing twice to Real Madrid. They lost the inaugural 1956 European Cup final 4-3 and then the 1959 final 2-0, but were a dominant force in French football at the time, winning six league titles.
Tottenham Hotspur
Despite being one of the 'Big Six' clubs in England, Tottenham Hotspur has never won the Champions League title. Their best result in the competition was reaching the final of the 2018-19 season, where they were defeated 2-0 by fellow EPL side Liverpool in Madrid, having most recently, only won the Europa League title in 2025.
AS Roma
AS Roma's closest finish was the 1984 European Cup final, where they lost to Liverpool 4-2 on penalties. Roma made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2018 but could not lift the trophy, with their other major European titles being the 1961 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and the 2022 UEFA Europa Conference League.
Valencia
Valencia holds the unfortunate distinction of being one of the biggest European clubs to have reached the UCL final multiple times, without ever lifting the trophy. They appeared in two consecutive finals at the start of the century, losing to Real Madrid in 2000, and then a heartbreaking defeat to Bayern Munich in 2001.
Arsenal
One of the greatest clubs in the world to have never won the Champions League title, Arsenal made it to the UCL final just once in their history. Their single final appearance was in 2006, where they suffered a 2-1 defeat to FC Barcelona, in a match where the Gunners had to play with 10 men following the 18th-minute red-card to Jens Lehmann.
Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid holds the unfortunate record of being the biggest club to have reached the UEFA Champions League final three times, in 1974, 2014 and 2016, without ever winning the trophy. Their last two final defeats were especially heartbreaking losses to city rivals Real Madrid, one after extra time and another in a penalty shootout.
