15 Nostalgic Sequels Fans Have Been Waiting For
Our Old Favorites Are Getting New Stories And We Are Obsessed!
Our favorite movies and TV shows from the past are finally getting the sequels we’ve been waiting for, and the nostalgia is hitting hard. From childhood classics to early-2000s comfort ones, these new stories bring back the characters we grew up loving while giving their worlds a fresh twist.
The Devil Wears Prada 2
You can practically hear the clicking of heels. The Devil Wears Prada was perfection; Meryl’s ice-cold Miranda, Anne’s wide-eyed ambition, and Stanley Tucci being everyone’s dream mentor. Now the sequel’s giving us fashion, fallout, and the future of publishing. Will Miranda still reign supreme in a TikTok world? Probably. And we’ll still be taking notes while pretending we don’t care.
Legally Blonde 3
Elle Woods didn’t just get into Harvard, she got into our hearts forever. Watching Reese Witherspoon turn heartbreak into a Harvard Law degree was peak millennial motivation. Now, with Legally Blonde 3 on the way and Mindy Kaling writing, I’m fully expecting Elle to conquer Washington, run her own firm, or maybe save the world in a pink power suit. We loved her because she proved kindness isn’t weakness.
Practical Magic 2
The ’90s witchy-girlcore comeback we deserve. Practical Magic was moody, romantic, and full of candle-lit chaos; Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman made witchcraft look like therapy. Now, Practical Magic 2 brings them back, possibly rehashing that cursed love storyline that broke all our hearts. The fact that they’re reuniting is spell enough. I’m fully ready to rewatch, light a cinnamon candle, and pretend I have a family curse just to feel included.
Air Bud Returns
Before cinematic universes, we had Air Bud. A golden retriever who played basketball, that’s all we needed. The 1997 original was wholesome magic, and now Air Bud Returns is bringing it back for us grown-up kids with kids of our own. Director Robert Vince promises the same heart, humor, and bouncy soundtrack that made it special; maybe even with some WNBA star cameos.
The Holiday Limited Series
We’ve all secretly wanted to house-swap with someone in England and fall in love with a single dad in a sweater. Now Apple TV+ is giving us The Holiday as a limited series, and yes, I’m cautiously obsessed. No Nancy Meyers this time, but if they keep the same fairy-lit energy and British charm, I’m in.
The Social Network 2
It’s the sequel none of us expected but all of us need. The original Social Network was genius. Betrayal, ambition, and that haunting score. Now Aaron Sorkin’s returning, but this time it’s not about creation; it’s about the fallout. Inspired by The Facebook Files, The Social Reckoning will dive into social media’s dark side and its toll on young minds.
Happy Hours New Trilogy
I still haven’t recovered from the Dawson’s Creek finale, so seeing Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes back together for Happy Hours feels like emotional whiplash in the best way. It’s not officially a sequel, but come on, former sweethearts reconnecting later in life? That's epic. This three-part film series sounds like a grown-up love letter to our teenage heartbreaks.
Jumanji 4
The original Jumanji scared us in the best way; a board game that traps you inside its nightmare jungle. Iconic. Fast forward to now, and Jumanji 4 is teasing a collision between the game and the real world. The Dwayne Johnson and Jack Black era kept the spirit alive, but this one feels like the ultimate level-up. I’m ready for the chaos, the nostalgia, and the stampede-level CGI that’ll make me feel ten years old again!
Sister Act 3
Sister Act 3 If Sister Act wasn’t part of your childhood, I don’t trust you. Whoopi Goldberg gave us music, mischief, and a choir that could out-sing angels. The fact that she’s back and producing Sister Act 3 makes my gospel-loving soul do cartwheels. Sure, we’ll miss Maggie Smith, but Goldberg has promised a tribute that’ll bring tears.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reboot
Buffy walked so every moody, complex teen heroine could run. Now, with Sarah Michelle Gellar back and a new slayer stepping in, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot might just bring supernatural TV back to its roots; witty, dark, emotional, and a little bit bloody. We loved the original for its mix of horror and heart, and if this revival keeps that magic (and the sass), I’ll be first in line with a stake and a snack.
The Princess Diaries 3
I don’t care how old I get, I’ll always want to live in Genovia. The Princess Diaries was the ultimate glow-up fantasy, Anne Hathaway went from invisible teen to royal icon with a single tiara. The third installment promises to show Mia as a grown queen, juggling duty, heart, and possibly motherhood? Who knows! All I know is, I’ll cry the moment I hear the words “A queen is never late.” Disney, don’t mess this up!
My Best Friend’s Wedding 2
You’re lying if you say you didn’t root for Jules back in ’97. Julia Roberts in My Best Friend’s Wedding was unhinged and gloriously human; and we loved every second of it. The sequel might finally show us where everyone ended up (and hopefully, Kimmy got her degree back). And if Rupert Everett doesn’t sing “I Say a Little Prayer” again, I will personally start a petition.
Crazy Rich Asians 2
The first Crazy Rich Asians gave us everything; laughter, love, and jaw-dropping luxury. Now the story continues with China Rich Girlfriend, and Rachel Chu is heading into even fancier (and messier) territory. Michelle Yeoh returns, and the stakes are higher than ever. We loved the first for its charm and heart, and this sequel promises even more drama, romance, and jaw-dropping fashion moments.
Bend It Like Beckham 2
Bend It Like Beckham made us believe we could break barriers and ankles with enough determination. Gurinder Chadha confirming a sequel is the best news ever. Keira Knightley and Parminder Nagra have to return; the world needs that energy again. With a 2027 release lined up during the Women’s World Cup, this might be the feminist sports movie event of the decade.
Enola Holmes 3
We first loved Enola because she wasn’t just Sherlock’s little sister; she was bold, clever, chatty, and always three steps ahead of everyone else. The first two movies felt like cozy-mystery comfort food, with Enola proving she could solve anything thrown her way. Now Enola Holmes 3 is taking her into a darker, more grown-up adventure, and I’m here for it.
