10. Clashing With Peeta After Shooting Coin

When she shoots President Coin, Katniss struggles desperately to swallow her nightlock pill. However, Peeta grabs her sleeve and keeps her from doing it. In the book, she clamps her teeth into his hand and struggles against him with tears streaming down his hand, begging him to release her. This scene of intense physical struggle has been removed from the movie 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2' (2015).

9. Peeta Nursing Katniss' Broken Foot

In 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' (2013), when security increases in District 12, Katniss manages to get outside of the district fence. When she falls from the tree, she breaks her foot and stays at home to recover. During this time, Peeta brings her cheese buns every day and helps her write descriptions of the plants in her father's journal. It is a warm moment that was cut out of the movie adaptation.

8. Creating A Memory Journal With Peeta

In the novels, Katniss and Peeta have created a memory book filled with pictures and descriptions of the people they've lost so they don't forget them. Haymitch even participates and tells the stories about the twenty-three years of tributes he had to mentor. Unfortunately, this book, created to remember their loved ones, does not appear in 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2' (2015).

7. Receiving Bread From Rue's District

After Katniss sings to Rue and surrounds her body with wildflowers, she receives an unusual gift parachuted straight to her in the arena. That is a tiny crescent-shaped loaf of dark grain bread as a thank-you note from District 11. It is a unique situation since it was forbidden to receive a gift from another district except your own. Unfortunately, this gesture of interdistrict unity has been cut out in 'The Hunger Games' (2012).

6. Carrying Heavy Burn Scars

Although Katniss looks quite perfect in the movies, her character has suffered from many explosions and fires in the books. As Katniss says, she has many burns on her body and calls herself and Peeta fire mutts because of those burn marks. The films make Katniss look perfect and do not pay attention to any burns she has in 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2' (2015). It removes one important detail from her story.

5. The History Behind The Mockingjay Pin

In the 'The Hunger Games' (2012) film, Katniss just buys the mockingjay pin in the Hob black market. In the original story, her friend Madge Undersee, the mayor's daughter, gave it to her as a district token before going to the Capitol. That pin was a family heirloom of Madge's aunt who died as a tribute in some previous games. Getting rid of Madge in the movie script removes the history of the pin and its personal meaning.

4. Sharing The Story Of Prim's Goat With Peeta

While being in a cave with Peeta during 'The Hunger Games' (2012), Peeta asks her to tell him a story in order to pass time. So, she shares how she buys Prim's goat with the money she earns by hunting with Gale and tries to remove all illegal moments in the story so the Capitol audience likes it. Peeta feels inspired and wants to recover after hearing about how Prim and her mother nursed the ill goat back to health.

3. Battling Severe Dehydration

Katniss experiences many more difficulties in the arena in the books than in the films. So, in the book version of 'The Hunger Games' (2012), she spends many days struggling from severe dehydration, leaving her tired, confused, and desperate enough to eat unknown berries. Later, in the Quarter Quell, she does not know how to use the spile for water in such a short period of time as she does in the film version.

2. Building A Close Friendship With Johanna

The movies show Katniss and Johanna as enemies throughout their interaction. However, in the book version of 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2' (2015), they become friends in the hospital in District 13. So, they decided to live in one room and train together for the rebellion. Moreover, Katniss presents Johanna with the bundle of pine needles as a comfort gift. It gives additional emotional depth to their relationship.

In 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' (2013), Katniss enters her assessment hall and sees Peeta's painting of Rue decorated with flowers in the middle of the gym floor. So, Katniss understands what Peeta did by smelling the chemical odor and the floor mat that covers the floor.
