10 TV Shows With Multiple Endings

    Firefly (2004-2005)

    Firefly (2004-2005)

For those who might've missed alternate finales or surprise revivals of popular shows, we have curated a list just for you. Firefly was a short-lived show that mixed sci-fi with Western themes. It was canceled early, so it never got a proper ending on TV. However, fans didn’t have to wait long, as a movie called Serenity was released to wrap up the story. The film gave closure to the characters and answered many questions left behind. Even though the show was meant to run for several seasons, this movie became its true ending.

    Arrested Development (2003-2019)

    Arrested Development (2003-2019)

Arrested Development became popular for its smart jokes and chaotic Bluth family. It first ended in 2006 with a neat and satisfying finale that wrapped up most storylines. However, years later, Netflix brought it back in 2013 for more seasons. This revival had a different style and led to a second ending in 2019, which felt more open and less polished. Because of this, the show has two different conclusions.

    Dexter (2006-2013)

    Dexter (2006-2013)

Dexter followed a serial killer who targeted criminals, and it ran successfully for eight seasons. The original ending in 2013 was emotional but divided fans, as not everyone liked how his story ended. Years later, the show returned with Dexter: New Blood, giving fans a second ending. This time, things were much darker and more final, as Dexter faced the consequences of his actions. With more spin-offs and a prequel in the works, the story still isn’t fully closed.

    Prison Break (2005-2017)

    Prison Break (2005-2017)

Prison Break became a global hit with its thrilling escape stories and shocking twists. It originally ended with a movie that gave closure to the characters, including Michael’s death. But in 2017, the show returned with a new season, bringing him back and changing the original ending. This gave fans a completely new version of how the story could end.

    Veronica Mars (2004-2019)

    Veronica Mars (2004-2019)

Veronica Mars followed a teenage detective solving mysteries and gained a loyal fanbase. Its original run ended without giving fans the closure they wanted. Later, fans helped fund a movie in 2014, which gave the story a happier and more complete ending. But the story didn’t stop there; a revival season came out in 2019 with a darker tone and another ending. This newer version changed how the story felt overall.

    Gilmore Girls (2000-2007)

    Gilmore Girls (2000-2007)

Gilmore Girls originally ended in 2007, but without its main creators, so the ending didn’t fully match their vision. The creator had always planned a specific final line but couldn’t include it back then. Years later, Netflix brought the show back with A Year in the Life, where the original ending was finally shown. This gave fans a second and more meaningful conclusion.

    Breaking Bad (2008-2013)

    Breaking Bad (2008-2013)

Breaking Bad ended in 2013 with a powerful and satisfying finale for Walter White. But the story didn’t completely stop there. In 2019, El Camino followed Jesse Pinkman’s life after the main series, giving him a more hopeful ending. On top of that, the spin-off Better Call Saul added more details about other characters. These extra stories didn’t change the original ending but added more depth to it. Because of this, Breaking Bad feels like it has more than one ending.

    Sex and the City (1998-2004)

    Sex and the City (1998-2004)

Sex and the City ended in 2004 with a happy and satisfying conclusion for its main characters. However, the story continued with two movies that showed what happened next in their lives. Later, the revival And Just Like That… brought the characters back again with new challenges and changes. Each version gave a different kind of ending, sometimes adding drama or changing relationships. Because of these multiple follow-ups, it’s hard to say where the story truly ends.

    The Hills (2006-2010)

    The Hills (2006-2010)

The Hills ended in a unique way that played with the idea that the show was scripted. In the original finale, the camera pulled back to reveal the Hollywood Hills as a fake set, hinting that everything wasn’t real. Later, an alternate ending was released where Lauren Conrad returned for a surprise cameo, giving fans a more emotional and character-focused moment. These two endings showed different sides of the show.

How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014)

How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014)

How I Met Your Mother had one of the most talked-about endings in TV history. The original finale revealed that the Mother had died, and Ted was encouraged to reconnect with Robin. Many fans didn’t like this twist. Because of the backlash, an alternate ending was released where the Mother is still alive and the story ends on a happier note. Both endings came from the same footage but were edited differently.
