BTS Creates History As ‘Proof’ Becomes 6th Album To Top Billboard 200 Chart. ARMY Celebrates The Milestone

BTS is at the top once again. From their sold-out tours to their record-breaking albums, the K-pop band has made quite the impression globally in recent years. The band has been the voice of concern at the UN and has also been among the lucky ones to visit President Joe Biden at the White House. The band has seven members – RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.

On their 9th anniversary, BTS announced a hiatus. The step was taken so that the members could concentrate more on solo projects while occasionally coming up with music as a group. Though this didn’t seem to affect their new album ‘Proof’. Their first anthology album debuted at Number 1 spot on Billboard 200 chart.

The new compilation album ‘Proof’ debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart (dated June 25), making it the pop group’s sixth chart-topper. The album consists of mostly previously released material. According to Luminate, the album earned 314,000 units in the U.S. in a week. The overwhelming majority of that unit figure was driven by CD album sales.

‘Proof’ was released as a 35-track digital download and streaming album, and an expanded 48-track album on CD. The latter edition contains 13 exclusive tracks – mostly demo recordings – not available on the digital or streaming album. The album was not issued in any other format, such as vinyl LP or cassette.

All versions of the album contain eight of BTS’ top-charting songs on the Billboard Hot 100, including three of their six No. 1s (‘Dynamite’, ‘Life Goes On’ and ‘Butter’). The chart-topping album also features three new tracks, including the set’s lead single, ‘Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment)’.

The ARMY celebrated this milestone achieved by BTS on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and congratulated the members.

‘Proof‘ – recorded mostly in the Korean language – is the 15th mostly or all non-English language album to hit No. 1 and the third in 2022. This year also saw non-English No. 1s from Bad Bunny (the all-Spanish ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’) and Stray Kids (the mostly-Korean ‘Oddinary’). Out of the 15 albums that were recorded mostly in a language other than English, six have been by BTS.

It registers the year’s biggest week for an album by a group, both in units earned and in album sales. The only larger week overall in 2022 was the debut frame of Harry Styles’ ‘Harry’s House,’ with 521,000 units, of which 330,000 were in album sales. Now, ‘Proof’ has outrun Styles’ album.
