Ever since Chappell Roan rose to fame, she has made one thing very clear — disrespect has no place in her fandom. The ‘Casual‘ singer has often spoken up and against fans who invade her space and privacy. Speaking more about it recently, she confessed that she was in a bar brawl.
Roan was speaking to The Guardian when she opened up about a bar fight she got into as she defended a server there. Here’s why things went down with the artist.
Chappell Roan Recalls How She Got Into A Bar Fight
Chappell Roan talked about multiple things as she recently sat down for an interview with The Guardian. Other than opening up about her political stance ahead of the presidential elections, she also spoke up in favor of the LGBTQIA+ community and the importance of their presence in politics.
She also opened up about some personal aspects of her life including how she embraces her sexuality and deals with superstardom. Narrating a particularly interesting personal anecdote, she revealed the time she was in a bar fight

Roan revealed she was at a bar when she overheard a man talking rudely to a server. The singer was bold enough to call the man out, which led to a brawl. She detailed how things quickly escalated. “If you’re an asshole, I’m gonna be like: ‘Yo, fuck off.’ You don’t get to talk to her like that,” she said, adding, “I’m confrontational.”
Roan previously went viral for talking back to a photographer during the VMAs. She shouted back, “No, you shut the fuck up“, clips of which went viral, and many called her out as rude.
Talking about the same, she said, “I’m very turned off by the celebrity of it all. Some girls have been in this so long that they’re used to that, but I’m not that girl. I’m not gonna be a sweetie pie to a man who’s telling me to shut the fuck up. They think I’m complaining about my success. I’m complaining about being abused.”
Chappell Roan Opens Up About Her Early Struggles With The Idea Of Sexuality
During the interview, Chappell Roan also talked about how she dealt with her sexuality growing up, as someone from the Midwest. The ‘Hot To Go’ hitmaker said, “I was very, very lonely. When I was growing up, it was like, ‘Gay means flamboyant, gay man’ and lesbian means, ‘Butch girl who looks masculine’.”
“There was not an array of queerness. And I was very mentally ill – suicidal for years – and not medicated, because that’s just not a part of midwest culture. It’s not: ‘Maybe we should get you a psychiatrist.’ It’s: ‘You need God. You need to pray about that,” she added.
Chappell has been very open with her support for the LGBTQ community as she dedicated her Video Music Award for Best New Artist to queer kids everywhere. “I dedicate this to all the drag artists who inspire me, and I dedicate this to queer and trans people who fuel pop. To the gays, who dedicate my songs to someone they love or hate … for all the queer kids in the midwest watching right now, I see you. I understand you, because I am one of you,” she said at the time.
