Did Taylor Swift Write ‘Dorothea’ Song For Selena Gomez?

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez‘s friendship is one of the sweetest friendships in Hollywood. The duo, who met through their flings with the Jonas Brothers, have been the best of friends for a long time. Selena has been a guest singer at a lot of Taylor Swift concerts, and they have constantly supported each other’s music and been each other’s fans.

Fans, however, have waited a long time for the duo to collaborate on music together. Though they’ve never made music together, Taylena fans speculated that Taylor might have written a song about Selena Gomez, and it’s called ‘Dorothea‘. So did Taylor actually write a song for Selena?

    What Is ‘Dorothea’ About?

Taylor Swift’s ‘Evermore‘ was a lyrically excellent album where most of the songs were inspired by stories of other people and their lives. She wrote songs about an array of things, like a rejected proposal, infidelity, murder, and a failed romance. One of these songs was ‘Dorothea’, a song about a girl who left her hometown to chase her dreams. According to fans, many parts of the song sounded related to Selena.

The initial lyrics go: “Hey, Dorothea, do you ever stop and think about me?

Now here’s the part where Selena comes in: You got shiny friends since you left town; A tiny screen’s the only place I see you now; And I got nothing but well-wishes for ya.” Fans speculated that this part was about Selena and her new friends, with whom she is often seen partying and hanging out. The second line refers to how Taylor and Selena live apart and only interact via a phone screen. Notably when Selena called Taylor in one of her episodes of ‘Selena+Chef‘ to show her a dish she made.

And if you’re ever tired of bеing known for who you knowl You know, you’ll always know me, Dorothea.” This part might be about how Selena is still linked to her ex, Justin Bieber, even after years of breaking up.

Ooh, you’rе a queen sellin’ dreams, sellin’ makeup and magazines; Ooh, from you, I’d buy anything” – this lyric resonates with Selena Gomez’s highly successful makeup brand, Rare Beauty and her frequent appearances in magazine covers.

Well, who knows? She might just be the inspiration for the song.

Taylor Swift Reveal On The Background Of ‘Dorothea’

Taylor Swift described ‘Evermore‘ as a tale of “17 tales, some of which are mirrored or intersecting with one another.” She described Dorothea as “the girl who left her small town to chase down Hollywood dreams – and what happens when she comes back for the holidays and rediscovers an old flame” which links to another song called ‘Tis The Damn Season‘.

She also spoke about ‘Dorothea‘ and said, “There’s not a direct continuation of the Betty/James/August storyline, but in my mind, Dorothea went to the same school as Betty, James, and Inez.” which are characters from her previous album ‘Folklore’

Neither Swift nor Gomez has ever confirmed what it’s about, but our Taylena heart is happy with even the possibility of there being a song about Gomez in Taylor’s album.
