The rumors began after Katy’s casual remark. In an interview with Steppin’ Out magazine, Katy did not hold back. Additionally, she revealed that while flipping through a magazine, she stumbled upon a photo of Scarlett Johansson. 

This led to her impulsively sharing a hypothetical scenario with her then-boyfriend. “I’m not going to lie: If Scarlett Johansson walked into the room and wanted to make out with me, I would make out with her. I hope you’re okay with that?” she said.

In response to all questions, yes, Scarlett was the inspiration for ‘I Kissed a Girl’. Perry’s remark highlights how Scarlett ignited the flame that led to the song. Additionally, the song was released in 2008 and quickly rose to popularity as it was embraced worldwide for its nature.
