It’s been years since Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift’s whirlwind teenage romance made headlines, but somehow, their story never fades from the spotlight. Every time Swift drops a new album, fans can’t help but wonder: Does Joe still keep up with her music?
Now that ‘The Life of a Showgirl‘ has taken over playlists everywhere, that question has come up again. And a while back, Jonas decided to answer it himself.
A Look Back At Joe Jonas And Taylor Swift’s History

Before they were global stars, Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift were one of Hollywood’s favourite young couples. Their relationship back in the 2000s might’ve been brief, but it left a long-lasting mark on pop culture. When they broke up in 2008, Swift openly mentioned on The Ellen Show that it happened over a 25-second phone call when she was 18. Many of Swift’s early hits from her Fearless and Speak Now albums, like ‘Forever and Always,’ ‘Mr. Perfectly Fine,’ and ‘Better Than Revenge,’ are still believed to be inspired by that breakup.

But over time, things seemed to settle between them. By 2020, fans spotted a softer reference in Swift’s folklore track ‘Invisible String.’ In it, she sings about sending “their babies presents,” which many thought was pointed at his then-wife Sophie Turner. Jonas and Turner first started dating in 2016 and later married in 2019. They share two daughters, Willa and Delphine. However, their marriage came to an end when Jonas filed for divorce in September 2023, saying their relationship was “irretrievably broken.” A year later, the divorce was finalized.
Later, Turner revealed in an interview that Swift had opened her New York home to her and the kids. She called Swift “an absolute hero” and said she’d never been more grateful to anyone.
Joe Shares His Thoughts On ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’

Since Swift’s latest album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl‘ released, it didn’t take long before someone asked Jonas what he thought. In a new Esquire interview, the 36-year-old singer said he had listened to “some” of the record, which has heavy references to her to-be-husband, Travis Kelce. He said Swift is “obviously the biggest artist out there”. He even described the album as “good,” adding that “everybody’s got an opinion about it.”

Jonas also mentioned that from what he’s heard, there are “some catchy melodies.” The album, which reunites Swift with her reputation producers Max Martin and Shellback, has been at the centre of fan conversations. Jonas’s reaction shows just how far both have come since those early days. The tension that once made headlines has long been replaced by mutual respect. Now, there’s no more drama left; just two people who’ve grown up, moved on, and built their own lives.
