During an intimate album event, Katy Perry spilled the tea to The Sun about the real inspiration behind her latest single: her daughter Daisy, whom she shares with longtime fiancé Orlando Bloom. “It is funny how sometimes you’re looking for your soulmate in a partner. It could be a dog, your mum, your best friend, your cat… but for me it came in the form of Daisy,” Katy gushed. “I wrote ‘Lifetimes’ about her,” she confirmed.

Further in the interview, Katy also shared a precious bedtime ritual that inspired the song’s title. “Every night, before we go to sleep, I say, ‘I love you,’ and then I ask, ‘Will you find me in every lifetime?’ and she says, ‘Yes,‘” she explained. Seriously, who’s cutting onions in here?

Reflecting on her journey to motherhood, Katy added, “The love I was missing, every mountain I climbed looking for this view, all this love, it came to me when she entered my life.”

Katy didn’t leave fans hanging about her upcoming album and previewed a snippet of ‘Lifetimes‘ during an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. She also belted out heartfelt lyrics like, “I love you for, I love you for life / Lifetimes / I know you feel it, can you believe it? / I’m going to love you til the end and then repeat it.”

During the same album event, Katy Perry gave The Sun a sneak peek into what fans can expect from ‘143.’ “I always wanted to make a dance-pop record,” she revealed. “One-third is more dance than I have ever done before. One-third is quintessential pop and then one-third is rhythmic.” It’s safe to say she’s cooking up something for everyone.

Her comments echoed the bold statement she shared in a press release for ‘143‘s’ announcement on July 10. “I set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message,” she noted. The project is described as a “sexy, fearless return to form.” And honestly, we are here for it.

Katy kicked off her latest album rollout in July with her first single, a power anthem titled ‘Woman’s World.’ The track arrived with a fierce music video featuring YouTube star Trisha Paytas. A week later, she celebrated its release on Instagram, writing, “1 week of Woman’s World and we’re just getting started 💪🏻 SHOUT OUT to my INCREDIBLE fans. I’ll love you for LIFE. 143.”
