Harry Styles had a spectacular 2023. He won a Grammy Award for ‘Best Album’ for ‘Harry’s House’. Harry concluded the ‘Love on Tour’ concert in Italy, which became one of the highest-grossing tours of all time. Styles is the only member of his former band, One Direction, who is having a successful run after the 2016 separation.
Harry Styles starred in many films, starting with Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dunkirk’ and the most recent one being Olivia Wilde’s ‘Don’t Worry Darling’. Whereas, other bandmates like Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik have not released music constantly. The Directioners, for the longest time, have been yearning for a reunion of the band, but Louis Walsh believes that Harry is too successful for a reunion.
Louis Walsh Believes Harry Styles Is A Star In His Own Right
Two decades ago, a 16-year-old from Holmes Chapel who worked in a bakery came on The X-Factor stage in 2010. His name was Harry Styles, and no one believed that that boy would one day sell arenas, perform at venues like Madison Square Garden, and win a Grammy for ‘Best Album’. Well, after his appearance on the show, the rest is history.
In 2012, Harry Styles became a part of One Direction with Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Niall Horan. However, the band decided to split in 2016 after Zayn Malik left it in 2015. Since then, the fandom, Directioners, has been asking for a reunion of sorts, but Louis Walsh is against it.
During an interview with Ladbrokes LIVE, Louis Walsh said, “Harry was always going to be this pop star. He doesn’t need a reunion. He’s a star in his own right.” Louis was one of the judges when the former members of One Direction came on The X-Factor.
The Judge Believes That The Singer Is Bigger Than The Band
Louis Walsh made the bold statement that Harry Styles is bigger than the band. Some of it is true. Harry’s recent ‘Love on Tour’ earned more than $600 million, which is equivalent to all the tours of One Direction combined. During his tour, he sold out some arenas, breaking the record that his former band created.
During the interview, Louis Walsh said, “He’s bigger than the band ever were … I wouldn’t recommend [a reunion], actually. Harry Styles doesn’t need it.”
Louis continued, “It’s like how George Michael didn’t need Wham!, Robbie [Williams] didn’t need Take That. They might just do it for a TV show or a charity event, or something like that. But that’ll be it.”
Walsh was amazed that Zayn Malik did not come out with more music. He added, “Because I thought he was very talented. Maybe in time, we’ll see them get back together, but I don’t see it.”
