“My First-Ever Proper Concert”: Malala Yousafzai Shares Her “Magical” Experience At Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Show

Taylor Swift‘s ‘Eras Tour’ has a new unexpected fan, and it’s none other than Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai, who has also received a Nobel Peace Prize in 2014. The activist shared photos of herself on social media attending the Eras Tour and what an experience it was.

Malala is known for her activism for girls’ education in Pakistan, and her fight against the terrorist organisation Taliban. Here’s how she described her Eras Tour experience.

Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel laureate, penned a heartwarming post on Instagram after attending the Eras Tour, thanking Taylor Swift for the elaborate show. Yousafzai wrote about how she grew up listening to Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story’ during a time when music was banned under Taliban rule and how it started her Swiftie journey. She took the moment to also spread a message for women living under the Taliban rule in Afghanistan.

In an Instagram post, she wrote, “Having lived through a time where music and art were banned, music felt like a gift. Moniba and I found the highest rock we could, climbed on top of it and announced to all of our classmates and teachers we were going to perform our new favourite song called LOVE STORY. We sang with all of our heart, taking in the joy we felt every second. That’s where my Swiftie journey began.

She ended her note on a hopeful tone, writing about Taliban’s now reign in Afghanistan and how she hopes for nothing but freedom for the girls who are living under that power.

It feels magical that my first-ever proper concert would be to see @TaylorSwift, singing along to every song surrounded by friends. Three years ago, the Taliban regained power in Afghanistan. Once again, music no longer plays on the streets, and girls and women are barred from school, work and public life. In Swat, music made my friends and me feel confident and free. And one day I hope we will live in a world where every girl will be able to enjoy music and live out her wildest dreams.

Just days before Malala Yousafzai’s visit, Taylor Swift’s Vienna concert faced terrorism threat from the ISIS who had allegedly planned to invade the concert, a move which, if happened, would have killed thousands. Careful execution by the Vienna authorities led to the concert getting cancelled and the people involved getting arrested.

Fans got a refund of their tickets and were given a lot of special offers by various brands and shops in Vienna. Swift has not yet commented on this.
