Jones said, “In some ways it was a difficult decision for our family to be here tonight but we felt like we wanted to celebrate his beautiful life and career. His music has literally defined an entire century of culture spanning genres. He was really excited to attend tonight. He has so many friends in this room. Well, actually, probably in every room to be honest because wherever he went he made connections with everyone. Real ones.”
She continued, “He knew how to stay present, to stay curious, to stay loving. There’s an entire universe waiting in his seven decades of music. And while you listen, hear him, hear how he imbued love into every single second of music he made. That was his real legacy: Love.”
How Did Quincy Jones Die?
Quincy Jones’ cause of death was revealed to be pancreatic cancer, according to his death certificate, which TMZ obtained and published on November 13. Jones, who never made his cancer diagnosis public, died on November 13 at the age of 91 in his home in Bel Air, California, accompanied by his children, siblings, and close family.
