Travis Kelce is a two-time Super Bowl champion and one of the NFL’s most celebrated tight ends. Fast-forward to 2023, and it was Kelce who took center stage, pulling off a romantic move straight out of a Swift song to win her heart.
From Bracelet Rejection To Relationship Goals
In a rare and intimate podcast appearance on her boyfriend’s ‘New Heights‘ show, co-hosted by Travis and his brother Jason Kelce, Taylor opened up about her Eras Tour, her upcoming album, and the whirlwind romance that started it all. “This podcast has done a lot for me. I owe a lot to this podcast,” she laughed. “It got me a boyfriend… ever since Travis decided to use it as his personal dating app about two years ago.”
When Kelce famously tried (and failed) to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it during her Kansas City Eras Tour stop (a Swiftie concert tradition).
After that fateful concert, Travis didn’t give up. Through his podcast banter and a few mutual connections, he made sure Taylor knew he was smitten. And soon enough, the two were dating. “I was like, ‘If this guy isn’t crazy, which is a big if, this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager,’” Taylor admitted. “It was such a wild, romantic gesture to just be like, ‘I want to date you.’”
“At first, when I looked at it, I was like, this dude is…. This dude didn’t get a meet and greet, and he’s making it everyone’s problem. That’s what I thought at first.” Kelce teased, “You come to Arrowhead, I get to meet you. That’s the perk of playing for the Chiefs.”
“He didn’t even reach out to our management. When this podcast came out, I was like, ‘Did he ever reach out to be in the tents? Did we know he was in the building?” Swift joked. “He thought that because he knows the elevator lady that he could talk to her about just getting down to my dressing room.“
Travis Kelce And Taylor Swift’s First Date And A Super Bowl Slip-Up
The couple never made a formal relationship announcement. But when Jason Kelce joked on New Heights in September 2023 that romance rumors were “100 percent true,” and Taylor was spotted cheering next to Mama Kelce at a Chiefs game days later, the internet went into overdrive.
On their first date, Taylor accidentally revealed she was still learning the football ropes. “I legitimately asked him what it was like when the Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl and he looked across the field, across the line of scrimmage, and saw his brother right in front of him on the field,” she recalled.

“He was like and he didn’t even look at me, [and] I now know what an insane question that was — ‘Actually, I’m on the offense and my brother’s on the offense, and I’m only on the field at the same time as the defense,'” she said.
Since then, she’s been diving headfirst into NFL culture. “Oh my God. I fell in love with it. I became obsessed with it,” she said.
Taylor Swift’s New Album
Of course, Swifties know Taylor always has a reason for everything, even a podcast appearance. Her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, is on the way.
“I love it that much. I’m confident. So proud of it. And it just comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life,” she teased.
