If there’s anybody who can document the feeling of being in love, it is most definitely Taylor Swift. In her discography of almost two decades, Swift has penned down hundreds (literally) of love songs, as she has passed through different relationships. Some of her songs have stood up among others, and her song ‘Enchanted‘ from her album ‘Speak Now’ is definitely one of them.
Also featured in her Eras Tour, the song was performed by Taylor in a gorgeous dreamy gown. The sight has effortlessly become one of the best moments of the tour. While fans continue to hail it as one of Swift’s best works, there’s much confusion surrounding who the song is written for. Here’s who Swift actually wrote ‘Enchanted‘ for.
What Does Taylor Swift’s Song ‘Enchanted’ Convey?
The romantic ballad ‘Enchanted,’ featured in Taylor Swift’s 2010 third studio album ‘Speak Now,’ illustrates the feelings of meeting someone for the first time and experiencing an enchanted, immediate connection. The lyrics of the song express both the anxiety of unfulfilled sentiments, and the thrill and anticipation that accompany a possible new love. Swift sings about the sensation of being “enchanted” by someone and the desire to find out if the other person feels the same way.
The song thoroughly describes a setting in which she meets this someone and how the first meeting is followed by moments of excitement and the thrill of new love as she wonders about what the other person feels. The song’s bridge where she sings “Please don’t be in love with someone else, please don’t have somebody waiting on you,” is one of the most popular parts of the song and had gone viral on social media.
The song is highly praised to be one of Swift’s best works and one of her mostly beautifully written songs. However, who exactly did she write it for?

Who Did Taylor Swift Write ‘Enchanted’ About?
Taylor Swift has opened up about her song ‘Enchanted‘ in the past. Talking about the song, she has said, “I wrote “Enchanted” about a guy who I was enchanted to meet, obviously. He was somebody that I had talked to a couple of times on email, and then I was in New York and went to meet him. I remember just the whole way home thinking, ‘I hope he’s not in love with somebody.'”

Later, however, after a lot of digging, fans discovered that it was written about Adam Young – from ‘Owl City‘. The singer even penned a romantic note for Swift on Valentine’s Day talking about the song and how much he loves it.
Part of the note said, “Everything about you is beautiful. You’re an immensely charming girl with a wonderful heart and more grace and elegance than I know how to describe. You are a true princess from a dreamy fairy tale; a modern Cinderella. I’m terribly sorry it’s taken me such a long time to reply but I figured Valentine’s Day was the perfect time to write this note to you and simply say… I was enchanted to meet you too.”
Young has even performed the song as a response to Swift’s version. Unfortunately, the love story didn’t quite happen as Swift didn’t reach back after Adam’s gesture as the singer revealed, “I haven’t heard back yet, but it was fun and was kind of an AB piece that went together.”
