Fans couldn’t get enough of Sasha Colby‘s interaction with Chappell Roan at the VMAs as the drag queen got on stage to announce her performance and shared a wholesome moment with Roan, who won her first VMA.
The ‘Casual‘ singer has always been a fan of Colby. She talked about the influence drag culture has had on her persona and her music, while the latter also gave her love back as she posted a sweet tribute for Roan on her Instagram. Sasha Colby Refers To Chappell Roan As Her “Daughter“
Before Chappell Roan took the stage to perform her hit ‘Good Luck Babe!’ at the MTV Video Music Awards, Sasha Colby introduced her on stage by saying, “Pop music is inclusive, no matter what you look like, who you love, it’s meant for everyone, and no one has revitalized that spirit more than this next artist. You have all watched her blow up, the Midwest princess is in the house. Your favorite drag queen’s favorite artist, here is my daughter, Chappell Roan!”
Roan has also talked about how her iconic line “My name is Chappell Roan. I’m your favorite artist’s favorite artist,” was a nod to Sasha introducing herself as “I am your favorite drag queen’s favorite drag queen”.
Sasha also took to Instagram to share her love for Chappell as she wrote, “Such a joy to introduce my daughter for her first of many VMAs performances to come @chappellroan
I am so proud of you. you are truly an unstoppable force of nature!“
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Chappell shared more love for Sasha as she said, “She officially named me a Colby. She’s the best. She looked amazing. It was just like, damn, through this job I get to meet people I look up to a lot. It just made me feel really important and good about myself.”
Chappell Roan Wins Her First Ever VMA
The year has been full of ups for the star as she has become somewhat of a sensation of the current generation. Roan won her first-ever well-deserved VMA as she took home the award for Best New Artist. The pop star dedicated the award to “all the drag artists who inspire me,” as well as the “queer (and) trans people that fuel pop.”

In her speech, she said, “For all the queer kids in the Midwest watching right now, I see you. I understand you because I’m one of you. And don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t be exactly who you want to be.”
Previously, she commented on fan culture and invasion of privacy in a series of TikTok posts on her account, calling out fans who are disrespectful towards her.
