Is it true that we may be seeing less of Lady Danbury after ‘Bridgerton‘ Season 4? Over the years, Lady Danbury has played a prominent and reassuring role in the well-being of the ton across all four seasons of the Netflix hit.
But now suddenly there seems to be a rift between the Queen and Lady Danbury. Are we really preparing to bid farewell to her character? Let’s take a closer look before jumping to any conclusions.
Lady Danbury’s Future In Doubt After ‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 Part 1

As Season 4 opens, viewers can sense a lingering tension between Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury. In Episode 1, the season’s first ball is hosted by Lady Bridgerton at Danbury’s insistence. This is more than a location change. It’s an unusual shift, as Lady Danbury has always hosted the opening event each season. Breaking tradition does raise questions.
She later reveals to the Queen that she is considering taking on a smaller role this season, expressing her desire to travel to her ancestral home and beyond. Of course, Her Majesty dismisses her wishes, being scared of losing her only friend, but masking it all with her usual power displays.
She openly forbids Lady Danbury from leaving, reminding her that she is, ultimately, a subject of the Crown. Shortly afterward, Queen Charlotte breaks down, confessing her fear of losing the King and wondering what her life will look like once he is gone. Moved by her friend’s vulnerability, Lady Danbury reassures the Queen that she will always be there for her.
Danbury later gets a new Lady-in-Waiting for the Queen, too. This is basically someone who acts as the monarch’s right-hand woman, solving issues ranging from personal crises to social activities. But a reduced participation doesn’t necessarily mean an exit.
Will Lady Danbury Appear In Future Seasons?

‘Bridgerton‘ is based on Julia Quinn’s beloved book series, which offers some clues about Lady Danbury’s future. In the fifth book, ‘To Sir Phillip, With Love,’ Lady Danbury does not play a particularly prominent role, as the story shifts its focus to other characters. This suggests her presence in Season 5 may be more limited, but Netflix has made many changes to book storylines.
Showrunner Jess Brownell confirmed to Deadline that Lady Danbury isn’t going anywhere in Season 5. So, what prompted the conflict? “It was more about wanting to explore the dynamic between a friendship in which there’s a power imbalance, which is very on theme with this season, where we’re looking at the relationship between servants and their employers,” she explained. So, fans can breathe easy.

Also, Lady Danbury returns in the sixth book, ‘When He Was Wicked.’ That means, dear gentle readers, you can expect to see more of her in Season 6. A final farewell is not on the horizon just yet.
Lady Danbury remains a vital figure in the ‘Bridgerton‘ universe. Who else could have been a trusted advisor to the Queen and a cherished friend to many? While her reduced presence would certainly be felt, there’s still more of Season 4 to come, with the remaining episodes set to arrive on Netflix on February 26.
