‘Peaky Blinders’ has always been a place that thrives on mystery, and it appears that Rebecca Ferguson is more than pleased to continue the tradition.
After ‘The Immortal Man’ was released, Ferguson answered the question that is already on the minds of fans: Will she come back?
Kaulo Chiriklo’s Quiet Power Might Be Too Important To Ignore

Rebecca’s response was not a resounding yes, but it was also not no. “I never say no,” she told RT, leaving the door open for speculation. What is interesting about her response, however, is not only the possibility of a return but her attitude towards storytelling itself.

Ferguson alluded to the fact that not all characters must go on, so it’s worthwhile to leave things open. And frankly speaking, that attitude suits ‘Peaky Blinders’ very well. In ‘The Immortal Man’, Ferguson plays a dual role, reappearing as Zelda in flashback and introducing Kaulo Chiriklo in the current time.
However, Kaulo is the one who makes an impression. In contrast to the loud and violent power struggles that characterized Tommy Shelby’s reign, Kaulo works differently. She is composed, insightful, and disturbingly powerful. She does not insist on control; she directs it. Her relationship with Duke Shelby is particularly revealing.
Duke is possibly walking into the shadow of his father, but Kaulo is the one person who can pull him back from the edge. Such influence is not merely significant; it is threatening in a totally new sense. At the conclusion of the movie, she is not merely there, but she is placed next to the future of the Shelby empire. This makes her possible absence in future stories seem improbable.
Kaulo’s Story Is Just Beginning

Nevertheless, the indecisiveness of Ferguson speaks volumes. Her style is almost refreshing in a franchise where characters tend to reappear, develop, and clash. She is not pursuing continuation as an end in itself. She is questioning whether the story requires it.

And that’s a fair question. As ‘Peaky Blinders’ has already achieved the stage where legacy is more important than growth. All the threads do not have to be tied up. Not all characters require a follow-up. In some cases, the influence of a character is better when it is left hanging rather than overstaying. At that, Kaulo does not feel like a loose end. She feels like a beginning.
‘The Immortal Man’ might have closed the book on Tommy Shelby, but it opened another one, where characters like Kaulo might determine the future. Whether Ferguson returns or not, she’s already done something important: she’s shifted the balance of power in this world.
