Rebecca Ferguson Reveals The Garrison Pub Moment That Gave Her Goosebumps

While discussing her time on the series with Extra TV, Ferguson said there was one moment on set when she looked around and simply thought, “Wow.” And it happened at the Garrison pub. “I mean, yes. And I think it was the Garrison pub for me,” Ferguson said while recalling the memory.
The crew had covered parts of the set so paparazzi wouldn’t take photos, and she was standing there with her back toward the entrance while everything was being set up. Then she looked up, and there was Cillian Murphy.

“I was standing with my back towards the entrance, and I looked up, and we had all these covers so the paparazzi wouldn’t take pictures. And Cillian was just riding towards me on the black horse,” she recalled.
Watching Murphy ride in like that felt surreal, even for someone who was actually part of the production. “And I thought, how many people would want to stand here right now?” she said. The whole thing gave her goosebumps.
Ferguson Says Murphy’s Professionalism Made The Role Look Effortless

After sharing that story, Ferguson also spoke about the dedication Murphy brought to the role of Tommy Shelby. The topic came up while discussing how actors often talk about the “blood, sweat, and tears” they put into their roles.

When sources asked whether she had ever noticed the exhaustion Cillian faced from his time away from his family, Ferguson said she never saw Murphy struggle on set. His professionalism meant those tough moments simply didn’t show.
“No, no, I would never have witnessed that because I think when you are as professional as he is, I would never have said that there was a day where he was in a bad mood or where he was finding something hard,” she said. Ferguson added, “I think he’s so articulate with what he needs from that scene that the moment is what becomes the essence of that day for us.”
So while Murphy may have poured everything into playing Tommy Shelby, the unforgettable moment for Ferguson remains the one at the Garrison.
