Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’ has quickly become one of the platform’s most popular shows by blending gothic mystery and the iconic Addams Family heritage. After two thrilling seasons that centered on Jenna Ortega’s pitch-perfect portrayal of Wednesday Addams at Nevermore Academy, fans are now eagerly awaiting the third chapter.
Now, according to co-creator Miles Millar, Season 3 won’t just continue Wednesday’s journey; it will peel back the layers of one of the series’ most enigmatic elements, the Hyde.
The Hyde Is More Than Just A Monster

The Hyde mythology was teased throughout the show’s first two seasons, most prominently in the arcs surrounding Tyler Galpin, whose struggle with his monstrous side became both a haunting metaphor and a central narrative twist. However, as Millar recently explained in an interview with TheWrap, audiences have only scratched the surface of what the Hyde truly represents. That mystery is precisely what the creators plan to explore in the new season.

“Lots to explore”, those were Millar’s exact words when asked about the Hyde mythology. The Hyde has always been more than just a creature lurking in the shadows. As Millar described, it can be understood as a condition that carries with it the weight of inevitability, self-hatred, and the longing for acceptance. He compared it to a terminal illness: something that feels inescapable, yet forces those who carry it to seek meaning in despair.
That metaphor hit especially hard in Season 2’s climactic rooftop fight between Tyler and his mother, Francois. Watching her slip away, even as a deeply flawed parent, revealed the raw vulnerability within Tyler. It showcased his fear of being left alone, and the torment of embracing his Hyde identity while also resenting it. All in all, Hyde is so much more than a supernatural plot device.
Season 3 will reportedly follow Tyler as he sets off to find a “Hyde pack.” Fans will finally get to see the Hyde world up close, far beyond the walls of Nevermore. Expanding the story outside the familiar academy not only allows for fresh settings but also the introduction of other supernatural mythologies that could reshape the show’s universe.
Uncle Fester Gets The Spotlight In New ‘Wednesday’ Spin-Off

As if Season 3 wasn’t enough to excite fans, Netflix is officially doubling down on the Addams Family legacy. In addition to ‘Wednesday’s return, the streamer is developing a spin-off centered on one of the most beloved members of the Addams clan: Uncle Fester. Fred Armisen, who won fans over with his character, confirmed the news himself during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

“Yeah, we’re working on it. It’s fantastic… It’s amazing,” Armisen said, practically glowing with enthusiasm. The project has actually been in the works since late 2023. However, hearing it straight from Armisen feels like the spark fans needed. While details remain under wraps, the actor’s excitement suggests the creative team has found a way to let Fester’s quirky humor shine while still fitting into the darker, gothic world of ‘Wednesday’.
“It’s so fun to do. It feels very organic,” Armisen shared. “That’s the fun of it, to embody this character who’s existed for a long time.” Fester has always been a standout in the Addams Family lore. Giving him his own series not only honors his legacy but also allows Netflix to expand the Wednesday universe into fresh, comedic territory.
