Lucy Holloway was “absolety devasted” when her daughter’s passport application was denied because she was named after a character inGame Of Thrones’. Lucy (mother) told the BBC about the incident. Her daughter Khaleesi, 6, required the approval of Warner Bros. as they own the trademark for the name.

“I was absolutely devastated, we were so looking forward to our first holiday together,” Lucy shared. The 39-year-old mom was planning a dream Disneyland trip for her daughter when she received the bad news.

She added, “I had a letter come through from the Passport Office, saying her name is trademarked by Warner Brothers. It was the first I’ve heard of such a thing — I was astonished.”

After receiving the legal advice, the lady learned that she was allowed to use the name for her daughter and she later forwarded the information to the passport office. “I didn’t understand and felt frustrated. If she could get a birth certificate, would something not have been flagged up then?”, she said.

Lucy Holloway added, “I never thought you could trademark a name“. After getting to know about this, the passport office immediately apologized to the lady.

The officials informed her that they were sorry for whatever happened and they are able to process the passport now. Lucy believes that the problem was solely resolved because she posted it on social media.

She said, “If I hadn’t posted this on social media, nothing would have been done. I would have been stuck, not knowing what to do”. Also added that many people reached out to her who had a similar experience.
