Amber Heard openly addressed the social media backlash she faced during her defamation trial against ex-husband Johnny Depp. During the trial, Depp received massive support from fans while Heard received backlash and became fodder for memes. Fans even started signing petitions to boycott the actress in every possible way.
All the hatred made Heard really upset. She recently spoke about how social media wasn’t “fair” to her during the course of the entire trial. It all started with her 2018 op-ed published in The Washington Post, in which she stated that she was “the public figure representing domestic abuse”. Although the post didn’t specify Depp’s name, the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star sued his ex-wife for defamation, and she countersued him for $100m. Finally, after a hectic trial, the jury’s verdict was in favor of Johnny.
