The Hollywood writers’ strike has been going on since May now and there seems to be no foreseeable agreement. The studio heads and the Writers’ Guild and SAG-AFTRA cannot come to a mutual understanding.
Many actors have also jumped in to help out but an understanding is just not happening. After a recent negotiation fell through, the big studio heads are going to be meeting today. So let’s take a look!

Which Major Studio Heads Are In For A Meeting?
Hollywood is at a standstill and the strike has been going on for quite some time now. Amidst that, the major studio heads have decided to do a virtual meet to come to an understanding. This includes Disney’s Dana Walden and Alan Bergman, Amazon Studios’ Mike Hopkins and Jennifer Salke, Netflix’s Ted Sarandos, Universal’s Donna Langley, and Warner Bros Discovery’s David Zaslav.
Another negotiation between the studios and the strikers has fallen through. So there seems to be no apparent path forward to end the writers and actors strikes. The studios are facing major losses as productions of shows have been postponed. So will this meeting make any difference? Everyone’s fingers are crossed!

Why Are Bob Iger and David Zaslav Being Slammed?
The failed meeting between the strikers and the studio heads has led to people slamming Bob Iger and David Zaslav. One insider said this was because, “that approach spectacularly flamed out, and then they made it worse by putting their offer out in public the same night.”
The offers made by them made no sense and were completely opposite of what the strikers are demanding for. Interestingly, Zaslav and Iger are stunned that people are hating on them even after making such poor offers. One insider even called them “thin-skinned“.
Another insider said, “Almost everyone is looking for someone to blame. They’re paralyzed, even as the clock is ticking, and it’s Ted’s fault, Iger’s fault, even Tony Vinciquerra’s fault, depending on who you ask.”
An insider tells Deadline that the “thin skinned” Bob Iger and David Zaslav are “stunned” that they have been “vilified” by the WGA and its members over the past months even though they have been refusing to give writers the fair deals they deserve.

But today’s meeting is mainly to sort out the differences between the studios themselves. Reportedly, there have been plenty of finger-pointing amongst the studio heads. The studios will be taking a joint decision from here on regarding the writers strike.
