Years after their break-up, Britney Spears has spilled the tea on some dark aspects of her relationship with Justin Timberlake in her newly released memoir, ‘The Woman in Me’.
The pop sensation has also spoken about Timberlake’s open comments on their sexual life after their breakup in 2002 and how it affected her. He even used his music video for ‘Cry Me A River‘ for the cause, featuring a Spears lookalike in it. The songstress had claimed that the video “shamed” her, but she also has another revelation about how these antics by Timberlake helped her in a way.
How Justin Timberlake Turned The Aftermath Of His Break Up With Britney Spears Into A Spectacle
Justin Timberlake had started speaking openly about his sexual life with Britney Spears just after they called quits on their nearly three-year-long relationship. He spoke actively about it while promoting his first solo album, ‘Justified’. Adding to the spectacle was Timberlake’s video of ‘Cry Me A River‘.
While Spears felt the video actively shamed her, she also expressed gratitude as it also helped her own case. She said Justin’s statements confirmed to the world that she was not the eternal virgin her management team wanted her to portray.
In her memoir, Spears questions the insistence of her team on projecting her as an “eternal virgin“. “Was I mad at being ‘outed’ by him as sexually active? No,” Spears writes. “To be honest with you, I liked that Justin did that.”
Spears has spoken extensively about her sex life in the memoir and asserted that she does not understand why her team wanted to portray her as a virgin, especially when she had lost her virginity at the age of 14.

Meanwhile, Timberlake’s public statements about their sex life aligned with her claims. “His talking about our having sex never bothered me at all, and I’ve defended him to people who criticized him for doing it,” Spears writes. “What I heard when he said that was, ‘She’s a woman. No, she’s not a virgin. Shut up,'” she writes.
Timberlake had admitted to having sex with Spears during an appearance on the New York City radio station Hot 97 in 2002. “I did it. I’m dirty. I’m in so much damn trouble, man. I’m going to get calls from my mother!” he had said when enquired in the context of Spears’ public declaration to remain a virgin until marriage.
He also gave a sarcastic “Sure!” as an answer with a laugh when asked about honoring Spears’ declaration during the 2003 Barbara Walters interview for 20/20.
She also opened up about the infidelity rumors about their relationship, admitting that she cheated on Timberlake with Wade Robson once. But she also insisted that Timberlake also did the same.
“There were rumors about him with various dancers and groupies,” she writes of Timberlake. “I let it all go, but clearly, he’d slept around.”
Though the two have been at loggerheads since their breakup in 2002, Britney’s memoir has put in perspective many things about their relationship that may have been lost in the media.
