Colton Lee Haynes is an American actor and model. He played Jackson Whittmore in the MTV supernatural drama series ‘Teen Wolf’. The 33-year-old actor began his career as a model at the age of 15 in NYC. We can not talk about the star without mentioning his amazing acting skills in the CW superhero television series ‘Arrow‘. Now, the question is why did he have to quit the two most popular shows which helped to shape his career.
Colton Haynes Reveals Why He Left ‘Teen Wolf’
Colton’s new memoir features the star talking out loud about the reasons that ultimately led to his departure from the show. In 2012, the actor left the hit show “Teen Wolf” on MTV. Back then, there were allegations that Colton and the network came to a contract negotiation stalemate. In his new memoir “Miss Memory Lane”, Colton admits that it’s not quite that simple.
“The real truth was that they didn’t want to pay me the same amount as everyone else,” Colton writes, “which wasn’t a lot to begin with by Hollywood standards, even though my working quote—the fee I would be paid to appear on anyone else’s show—was higher than most of the cast’s.”
The star left the show after its second season. Despite all of that, he recognizes that those in his close circle didn’t make things any easier. “It didn’t help that I was represented by a team of people who made the Teen Wolf production’s life a living hell,” Colton says. “So in order to get back at my team, the production refused to pay me the standard salary.” MTV has not given any closure about this.
The Reason Colton Resigned From ‘Arrow’
Once again, Haynes is telling his side of the story. After ‘Teen Wolf’, the star played Roy Harper/ Arsenal on the CW’s “Arrow”. All eight seasons of the show witnessed the unique acting skills of Colton. But at the end of season 7, he announced he would only return in a limited capacity for season 8 in the superhero drama. In his memoir, Colton gets honest about that departure as well. “I had walked away from my full-time job on Arrow at the beginning of the year, supposedly because my contract had ended,” he writes, “but it was really because I was too depressed and I couldn’t stand working with one of my cast mates.” Colton hasn’t revealed the specific cast member by name.
However, there’s good news for fans as well. Colton is returning to ‘Teen Wolf’ in Paramount+’s ‘Teen Wolf: The Movie’. The wolf pack reunion will also include Tyler Pose, Holland Roden, Dylan Sprayberry and Tyler Hoechlin who will reprise their roles from the original series.
‘Teen Wolf: The Movie’ will probably hit the streaming service later this year. Colton’s book ‘Miss Memory Lane’ is available now.
