She stepped out for dinner with singer Role Model, and the PDA that followed didn’t feel like a casual outing at all. In fact, this date night may have just confirmed that Dakota is officially off the market.
Why Dakota Johnson and Role Model’s Date Night Didn’t Look Like “Just Friends”
Dakota Johnson and Role Model stepped out together on Thursday, Jan. 23. At first, it seemed like a simple dinner outing. However, things got more interesting once they left the restaurant. That’s because Dakota and Role Model were caught holding hands outside, and it was the first time they had been seen doing that in public.
Naturally, that quickly became the biggest takeaway from the night. Even though neither Dakota nor Role Model has confirmed their relationship, the hand-holding made the rumours feel much more real.
The Dinner Date Looked Very Much Like A Couple’s Night Out
The two went to Saffy’s, a Middle Eastern restaurant in East Hollywood. While inside, they sat next to each other in a booth, which only added to the growing buzz around them. Style-wise, Dakota kept it simple but chic. She wore a black lace tank top with black pants and left her hair down and natural.

Meanwhile, Role Model went for a relaxed look too, wearing a grey and black patterned sweater with grey trousers. After dinner, the vibe stayed just as close. The two bundled up in trench coats and walked out together. Even more, they were photographed holding hands behind a friend, which made it seem like they weren’t trying too hard to hide their connection.
For those who have been following Dakota’s dating life for a long time, this feels huge. She officially ended her eight-year relationship with Coldplay singer Chris Martin in June 2025. According to a source who spoke earlier, their relationship had been on and off for a long time, and they were even engaged for several years before finally calling it quits.
Later, in November, another source explained that Dakota and Chris were often “hot and cold.” The source also said Dakota always hoped it would work out, but she seemed “lighter and more at peace now that it’s final.”
At the same time, Role Model has also had a public relationship in the past. He previously dated social media personality and podcast host Emma Chamberlain. Reportedly, he first reached out to her after seeing one of her TikTok videos back in 2020. Eventually, the two made things official in a big way when they “hard launched” their relationship in a GQ feature in February 2023. However, things didn’t last, and they later announced their split in October 2023.
Now, Dakota and Role Model have been spotted together several times since December. And with this latest hand-holding moment, it feels like the biggest clue yet that Dakota Johnson isn’t single anymore.
