Doctor Who returns to BBC One later this year. It will feature a 90-minute special episode to celebrate BBC’s centenary. Jodie Whittaker will appear for the last time on the screen as the 13th doctor. Chris Tribunal is the one who cast Judy as the first female protagonist in the show. Now, Davies will replace Chris.
BBC has confirmed that David Tennant and Catherine Tate will be appearing for the 60th anniversary of the sci-fi show. This grand event will be celebrated in 2023. They both had already appeared for the 2008 series which became successful since its revival in 2005.
The Golden Duo Is Back
Finally, the most adorable pair of Doctor Who is back on the screen. David Tennant and Catherine Tate will be reuniting with the head writer of the series, Russell T Davies. Davies left the show along with the Tennant in 2005. They shared their last episode in 2010 although the actor returned for a brief time and joined the doctor Matt Smith for the 50th anniversary of the program in 2013. Catherine Tate, who was playing the role of Donna Noble, was the companion of Tennant, and did an amazing job too. Davies has teased the fans by saying, “They’re back! And it looks impossible – first, we announce a new Doctor, and then an old Doctor, along with the wonderful Donna. What on earth is happening?”

“Maybe this is a missing story. Or a parallel world. Or a dream, or a trick, or a flashback. The only thing I can confirm is that it’s going to be spectacular, as two of our greatest stars reunite for the battle of a lifetime,” he added.
However, another big news came up a week before this announcement. Ncuti Gatwa will be appearing on the screen as a fourth person of Scottish origin to take up the post from Sylvester McCoy. It is not clear till now whether the golden duo will be appearing alongside Gatwa.

As we already know, Tennant and Tate’s collaboration made Doctor Who a huge hit in their time. The 13-episode-long series got huge critical acclaim and bagged many awards. So, this recent announcement has got the fans jumping up and down.
