Did Kanye West Claim He Is Autistic?

It is the most difficult thing to predict what Kanye West will do or say the next moment! Since October 2022, the rapper has been making headlines for his problematic behavior and statements. It was not new to what West was displaying. The fans and the general audience has seen Ye in all his mad phases and stages, where he was outrageous and problematic. But, the behavior he has displayed since the Paris Fashion Week did not sit well with the people.

During Paris Fashion Week, the ‘Donda’ rapper introduced new Yeezy collections which had ‘White Lives Matter’ printed on them. This hurt the sentiments of the Black community, and he faced a major backlash from the industry people and online audience. But, when he went on to explain why he did so, he went on an anti-Semitic spree, where he announced to go “defcon3” on Jews. The continued efforts led to a saga where he even claimed to like Hitler and asked Jews to forgive him. Many claimed that his bipolar disorder is intensifying, but now, Ye is saying that he is not bipolar at all.

Since 2016, Kanye West has been displaying behavior where he has been going on Twitter rants and saying offensive things, and there is a huge change in his personality. The ‘Monster’ rapper, in the process, attacked his now ex-wife Kim Kardashian, called slavery “a choice”, and defended the Nazis and Hitler. In 2018, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He was hospitalized for a “psychiatric emergency”, but it was because of exhaustion and stress. The SKIMS owner defended his husband on Twitter in 2020 when he announced that he is running for Presidential candidacy independently.

Kanye West is displaying the same behavior as he did in the past few years. He declared that he will run for the 2024 presidential elections. He even approached Donald Trump to be his “running mate”, but he declined the offer. In December 2022, he appeared on the controversial figure Nick Fuentes’ show ‘Infowars’, which tarnished his credibility in a big way. Now, the ‘Jesus Walks’ artist claims that he does not have bipolar disorder at all.

In an interview with X17, Kanye referenced the 1988 film ‘Rain Man’ starring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise. In the film, Hoffman is sketching an autistic person, Raymond Babbitt. His brother, Charlie Babbitt played by Tom kidnaps him to forcefully transfer the father’s inheritance. Ye compared himself to Raymond Babbitt. He said, “For me, I believe that in no way I am bipolar, I am not in some kind of episode, but I may be slightly autistic-like Rain Man, and that’s part of my superpower!”

In 2013, the producer in a long Twitter spree posted a cryptic tweet ‘June Eighteen’. During that time, many claimed that it may be the next album follow-up to ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’. Others speculated that Kim may give birth to their first child.

It was the latter. Kim gave birth to North West on June 15th, 2013, three days before the said date. There were a handful of people who read too much between the line claiming that Ye hinted at autism because June 18th is observed as ‘Autistic Pride Day’.

In the X17 interview, he continued, “That’s the reason why I can produce tracks and design and do so many things but what I can’t do…there are two things that I can’t do: I can’t accept hate and I can’t hate. Have you ever known an autistic person that hates?”  Due to this when people tell him not to love a particular person, the rapper said, “I don’t know how to do that”.
