Movie sets are chaotic places with thousands of accountable people working towards a single goal. Imagine how much worse it is when the leading actors refuse to get along due to, god knows, whatever difference of opinion. This was the case with Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt while filming for Alan J. Pakula’s 1997 film ‘The Devil’s Own.’
Harrison Ford was Hollywood’s old guard, and Brad Pitt was the new kid on the block. The set became a contest of egos, as both wanted to get a more complex role than the other. 26 years later, Ford is admitting his culpability for the tension and remembering how the stress of filming got to them.

Harrison Ford Opens Up About Issues With Brad Pitt On ‘The Devil’s Own’ Set
Harrison Ford has addressed his on-set beef with Brad Pitt while filming ‘The Devil’s Own.’ Directed by Alan J. Pakula, the film stars Ford as NYPD Sergeant Tom O’Meara. He and his family provide shelter to Rory Devaney (Brad Pitt), an Irish construction worker, unaware that he’s an IRA informant. Ford, who wanted a complex storyline like Pitt’s character, proved difficult to work with.
Harrison Ford admits there’s no one to blame but himself and recalled to Esquire, “Brad had this complicated character, and I wanted a complication on my side so that it wasn’t just a good-and-evil battle. And that’s when I came up with the bad-shooting thing. I worked with a writer — but then all the sudden we’re shooting and we didn’t have a script that Brad and I agreed on. Each of us had different ideas about it.”

Harrison Ford On The Impact Of Stardom On His Parenting
While promoting ‘Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny,’ Harrison Ford told Esquire how his fame prevented him from being a decent father to his many children. The 80-year-old actor, thanks to his roles in ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Indiana Jones’ franchises, has stayed in the game for so long.
Usually reticent about his private life, the ‘Indiana Jones’ actor was forthcoming about his relationships with his kids, “I can tell you this. If I’d been less successful, I’d probably be a better parent. I accept my flaws and my failures — I don’t accept them, I own them. And certainly, the more constant gardener is the better parent, and I’ve been out of town, up my own a**, for most of my life.”
