SpaceX giant, Elon Musk has been creating a string of celebrity enemies as he sweeps his tyrannical scepter over Twitter’s new policies. By now he has had an online tirade with Kathy Griffin, politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Mark Ruffalo. Meanwhile, many famous personalities, for instance, Zayn Malik and Whoopi Goldberg, have boycotted Twitter amidst the new eight-dollar blue tick policy. And this time Twitter’s former CEO, Jack Dorsey joins the club with what seemed to be a comically intense debate on Twitter.
Elon, within the immediate acquisition of Twitter, abandoned his employees by giving them a ‘Stay At Home’ notice and later fired them. He has recently come under the hammer for charging eight bucks to maintain the blue tick of Twitter accounts. Elon received backlash from numerous celebrities for this new policy. He also changed the name of the community-driven feature of ‘Birdwatch’ to ‘Community Notes’ over which Elon and Dorsey bickered.
Jack Dorsey’s Dissatisfaction With Elon Musk’s Twitter Takeover
Jack Dorsey had earlier shown his disappointment with Elon Musk as Twitter had mass lay-offs with workers. He took the responsibility on himself for Elon’s decision for sacking nearly 7,500 employees at Twitter. He apologized to the fired employees saying, “I own the responsibility for why everyone is in this situation: I grew the company size too quickly. I apologize for that.” The employees, that had been laid off, approached the court to file a suit.
Elon, in defense of his actions, spoke on Twitter: “Regarding Twitter’s reduction in force, unfortunately, there is no choice when the company is losing over $4M/day. Everyone exited was offered 3 months of severance, which is 50% more than legally required.”
Dorsey encouraged the disheartened employees by tweeting, “Folks at Twitter, past, and present, are strong and resilient. They will always find a way no matter how difficult the moment.” However, this time Jack himself confronted the Tesla CEO.

The Elon Musk-Jack Dorsey Row
In light of the recent bitterness created by the radical new policies of Twitter, Elon Musk tweeted on 7 November 2022 why he has been acting so. He wrote, “Twitter needs to become by far the most accurate source of information about the world. That’s our mission.” Replying to Musk’s tweet, Jack Dorsey asked, “accurate to who?”. Musk in turn said, “As judged by the people of Twitter via Community Notes (formerly Birdwatch)”. The context-adding feature of Twitter was renamed ‘Community Notes’ after Elon took over the micro-blogging site.
Jack pronounced his sentiments over the change, “I still think…Birdwatch is a far better name… And “more informative” a far better goal”. Elon then expressed his even more personal views, “Birdwatch gives me the creeps”. The argument started turning hot as Dorsey claimed, “Community notes is the most boring Facebook name ever.” Elon outdid Dorsey’s outburst as he tweeted, “Not everything needs to have “bird” in the name! Too many bird groups fighting each internally other at Twitter. Angry Birds.”
Dorsey did not reply to Musk after this but it doesn’t mean he won the debate. Before jumping to conclusions, however, we must agree that Elon has founded two very successful organizations. Tesla is the ruling electric automobile enterprise and Musk might have some genuine plans to do good to the Twitter application.
