Elon Musk, the billionaire tech mogul infamous for constantly staying in controversies has done it yet again. Recent rumors suggest that the Tesla CEO is sprawling a family compound in Texas for his 11 children and their mothers. Though he reportedly intended to keep it a secret, it’s now out in public.
With the speculation taking over the media, the tech tycoon has claimed that he is not doing anything of the sort, and the talks are mere rumors. He spoke to Page Six after the news gained traction and trashed all the speculation. Here’s what he said.
Elon Musk Denies Owning Or Developing Any Compound
Elon Musk is setting the record straight as he clarified that he neither owns nor intends to develop any sort of compound that the world is talking about. “I don’t own, nor am I building a compound in Austin. No grand family compound/home has been built or is expected to be built,” he said. “No grand family compound/home has been built or is expected to be built,” he added.
But as the multibillionaire was shooting down the rumors over a multibillion-dollar lavish estate, he did say something a little more friendly for the public. “I do have an idea for a big futuristic art project in the Austin area that would be open to the public,” said Musk before adding, “but I’ve had too much work to get that going.”
When The New York Times published a piece saying Musk bought an enormous 14,400-square-foot Tuscan-style mansion last week, tongues started wagging over a potential secret family hideaway. Asked about it directly, Musk said he knows nothing of the article, insisting, “I don’t subscribe to NYT and haven’t read the article.”
Elon Musk Denies New York Times Report Detailing About His Mansion
The NYT article turned to the assumption that Elon Musk, who voiced his concerns about low birth rates, offered to make sperm donations to friends, acquaintances, and possibly even Nicole Shanahan when she was RFK Jr.’s running mate. Musk flat out denied this claim too, saying, “I did not offer to be a sperm donor to Nicole or some random married couple.”
As for the claimed $35 million Austin mansion, which the report said would serve as Musk’s residence along with his Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis and their children, Musk shut down that one too. “Shivon has her own house, and she bought it for much less than that,” he said.

His ex, alt-pop star Grimes, was dragged into the speculation too, as NYT reported she had avoided the so-called Austin compound. Musk clarified their situation. “Claire lives in LA in her own house. Our kids spend alternating weeks in Texas and California,” he said.
So, while the billionaire’s living arrangements are spread across the map, it seems a secret family compound isn’t one of them.
