If you’ve ever lined up at a Harry Potter convention, chances are you’ve spotted Jessie Cave. She was the one who brought Lavender Brown’s lovestruck chaos to life on the big screen. Behind the cameras, she has been part of the fandom for years, signing photos, chatting with fans, and proving that Hogwarts spirit never really fades.
But this time, Jessie says she’s suddenly been shut out of the very events that once celebrated her character. And, the explanation has left fans just as puzzled as she is.
Lavender Brown’s New Chapter Hits Hard

Jessie first stepped into the Wizarding World in ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince‘ (2009). You’ll remember Lavender’s over-the-top romance with Ron, her dramatic tears, and her famous “Won-Won” nickname. After that, Jesse returned for ‘Deathly Hallows: Part 1′ and ‘Part 2‘.
Even after the films wrapped up, she remained a regular at conventions for almost 15 years, where she signed photos, posed for selfies, and kept the Potter magic alive for fans who grew up with the series. In March, though, Jessie made a surprising move; she launched an OnlyFans page. But instead of any adult stuff, her content was all about “hair stuff.” She promised “the best quality hair sounds” and “very sensual stuff.”
While that seemed not to be a major issue for us, last week, she opened up in her Substack newsletter about getting dropped from a Harry Potter convention because of her OnlyFans account.
On September 17, Jesse said, “I found out that I didn’t get booked for a Harry Potter convention recently, as I’m now doing OnlyFans. They explained it was because it’s a ‘family show and OnlyFans is affiliated with porn.’ This was baffling to me, as some actors who do conventions (most actors, actually) have done TV and films in which they’ve done sex scenes and nudity. I’m just playing with my hair!“
While actors who’ve filmed intimate scenes for mainstream projects are still welcomed at conventions, her hair-focused page was apparently seen as too risky.
Is Brown Ready To Move On From ‘Harry Potter’ Fame?

Even though the rejection stung, Jessie said she isn’t heartbroken about leaving the Harry Potter convention circuit behind. She wrote, “I am not upset about the prospect of no more Harry Potter conventions. There’s going to be a new cast now, and it’s a different time. Plus, I have done conventions for over 15 years and have enough photos and wizard memorabilia.”
She admitted that conventions had been a vital source of income at times and added that some years, her only steady money came from “signing photos of my face.” But she also added how grateful she was to get a chance like that. But never once did she shy away from moving on.
For Jessie, one of the major frustrations has been the way her OnlyFans has been misunderstood. She’s been open that the page isn’t sexual. Yes, it may appeal to people with a hair fetish, but as she explained on her podcast, Before We Break Up Again, fetish “doesn’t necessarily mean sexual.”
Even after sharing her reasons for starting the page, she had to face such allegations and was misunderstood. She wrote in her Substack newsletter, “One year. I’ll try for one year. My aim? To get the house safe, cover the arsenic/lead wallpaper, build a new roof, etc. My aim? To get out of debt. My aim? To empower myself? Prove to those in the past who have misjudged me that I’m not so sweet? To put time into something I never invested in before: self-love.”
No, she never wanted the controversy. It was just her way of survival! So, is the problem really about the content, or is it simply about the stigma of the platform itself?
