Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s visit to the United Kingdom during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee was very special. It was the first time that the monarch got to meet their daughter and her great-granddaughter Lilibet. Prince Charles also met the little girl for the first time during the visit.
A source revealed that Prince Charles got emotional as he saw Lilibet and spilled the beans about how the meeting went. His wife, Camilla, was also present there.

Prince Charles Got “Emotional” During His First Meeting With Lilibet
The Prince of Wales and Camilla were “absolutely thrilled” to see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s kids, a royal source revealed. He got a chance to meet Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1, as the couple visited the U.K. earlier this month to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The four-day celebration included grand events with many royals in attendance.
About Prince Charles’ reaction to meeting his grandkids, a royal source said that it was “wonderful” and added, “It was a fantastic visit. The prince was delighted to see his grandson and meet his granddaughter for the first time.”
“The Prince of course hasn’t seen his grandson Archie for a bit of time and so it was very, very, very special to have some time with him. He hadn’t met Lilibet, his granddaughter, and so to meet her for the first time was I think very emotional, a very wonderful thing,” the source revealed. Harry and Meghan stepped back from the royal life in March 2020. They reside in the United States now.
Why Queen Elizabeth Didn’t Spend Much Time With Lilibet
Harry and Meghan’s trip gave Queen Elizabeth II a chance to meet her great-grandmother Lilibet for the first time. The child has been named after the monarch herself as Lilibet was her childhood nickname. However, their meeting was kept short, which caused many people to speculate that the relationship between the couple and the Queen are still strained, following their exit from the family as working royals.
However, the royal expert Jonathan Sacerdoti said that the monarch kept the meeting under one hour because she wanted to conserve her energy for the Platinum Jubilee functions. He said, “She was working very hard to maintain her strength. I think it’s totally understandable that she was saving her energy as best she could for all the events that she wanted to be at if she possibly could.”
