Phoebe Dynevor Revealed The Reason For Not Coming Back to ‘Bridgerton’

Season 4 recently focused on Benedict Bridgerton’s romance with Sophie, continuing the show’s format of spotlighting a different sibling each season. But even as new love stories unfold, Daphne’s absence hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Addressing it directly, Dynevor said, “I just want to say I have not received a call.” That single line makes it clear that her absence isn’t her decision. She followed that up with another important statement: “And when I get that call, I will be there if I can.”
She didn’t stop there. Dynevor made her stance even clearer by adding, “I can only speak for myself; I would always come back if I were asked”. So while fans may have assumed she moved on. The reality is that she’s still open to returning; she just hasn’t been invited back.
Why Daphne And Simon Became “The Ones That Got Away”

Dynevor reflected on the show’s early days. She explained why her character and Simon felt disconnected from later storylines. She explained that when season 1 was made, the creators didn’t yet know how the show would expand.

As she put it, “When the first season came out, they didn’t know what they needed to put in place.” Because of that, their storyline wasn’t built with long-term continuity in mind.
She even described their arc in a striking way, saying, “So we were like the ones that got away, I think, in a certain way.” That line perfectly captures why Daphne and Simon feel absent from the evolving family narrative.
Meanwhile, later couples like Anthony and Kate, and Colin and Penelope, were written with ongoing arcs. It will allow them to remain part of the story across multiple seasons.
Dynevor also addressed Page’s exit, explaining his perspective without criticism. She shared that he essentially felt his job was complete. She added, “Rightfully, he said, ‘I signed up to do this one lovely story, this closed-ended storyline. I’m good!’”.
She even supported that choice, saying, “I don’t blame him for that… I think that he was really smart to leave the perfection as the perfection.” Since leaving, Page has taken on major projects like ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves‘, further cementing his decision to move on.
