It brings us no joy to say this, but ‘Yellowstone‘ might be coming to an end. The Emmy-winning drama is set to wrap up as Kevin Costner looks to depart the series. While Costner’s time on the show ends, Matthew McConaughey is being eyed for a potential ‘Yellowstone‘ spinoff.
‘Yellowstone‘ creator Taylor Sheridan will pen the Matthew McConaughey lead spinoff. There are ongoing negotiations between the show and Matthew McConaughey, who could return to television after his memorable stint on the first season of HBO’s ‘True Detective.’

Kevin Costner To Leave ‘Yellowstone’ Over Filming Schedule Disputes
Conflicting shooting schedules are the reason for Kevin Costnar’s exit. Kevin Costner had a designated number of 65 days of shooting on ‘Yellowstone’. However, he made himself available to shoot for only 50 days for the first part of the current season.
This number, too, came down, as he only wanted to spend a week shooting the episodes for the fifth season. All this can be attributed to the fact that Costner is also working on his western epic ‘Horizon.’ Written with John Baird, the second part of filming begins in the spring of 2023.

Matthew McConaughey To Mark His Return To Television With ‘Yellowstone’ Spin-off
Paramount Network and Taylor Sheridan want to move on from ‘Yellowstone‘ with another spinoff. The success of ‘Yellowstone‘ spinoff and prequel series, ‘1921‘ and ‘1883‘, is a testament to the fact that other stories within the ‘Yelllowstone‘ universe are worth exploring.
Whatever these plans are, Matthew McConaughey is the man on their minds. If negotiations go well, this will mark McConaughey’s return to television after HBO’s ‘True Detective‘ for which he won a Critics’ Choice Television Award.
He played the nihilistic Rustin Cohle in the universally acclaimed first season of the show. He hosted ‘Saturday Night Live‘ in 2015 and will voice Elvis Presley in Netflix’s upcoming animated series ‘Agent Elvis‘.
