With the new DC Universe just starting to unravel under James Gunn, the question of when the legendary Justice League will finally come together is naturally on the minds of the fans.
Although the entire team is still years off, the DCU has already secured two key players who may be the basis of the next generation of heroes.
2 Key Justice League Heroes Are Already In Place

The most obvious and the first is Superman. The Man of Steel, played by David Corenswet, started the new DCU. The film brought a new interpretation of Clark Kent and made him the most powerful guardian of the world. More to the point, the movie demonstrated that this Superman is the embodiment of optimism, leadership, and responsibility that the Justice League is traditionally centered on.

Although he now works mostly alone, the DCU makes it clear that he is the ethical hub of the universe. However, Superman will not be alone long. The second member of the League in the future seems to be John Stewart. Stewart will appear in ‘Lanterns’, a darker, investigative take on the Green Lantern mythos in the style of True Detective.
Veteran Lantern Hal Jordan will also feature in the series. However, it is strongly hinted that Stewart will be the main Green Lantern. That course is further made evident with the news that Stewart will feature in ‘Man of Tomorrow’ alongside Superman. When the two heroes appear together at the beginning of the franchise, it may easily create the foundation of a future Justice League.
DCU’s Justice League Lineup Is Beginning to Take Shape

In the meantime, other heroes are already orbiting the team. The Justice Gang introduced Guy Gardner (portrayed by Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi). They also may become allies or even members of the League in the future.

Naturally, some of the legendary heroes are still absent from the board. Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, and Martian Manhunter are some of the icons that have not yet been introduced in Gunn’s new cinematic universe.
However, with Superman and John Stewart already established, the initial template of the DCU’s Justice League is slowly coming into view. For fans eager to see DC’s greatest heroes unite again, the first pieces of the puzzle are finally falling into place.
