Emmy-nominated actor Mark Margolis, who was the star who acted in ‘Breaking Bad‘ and its prequel ‘Better Call Saul‘, died at the age of 83. On Friday, his son and a representative confirmed his death to CBS News.
Margolis died Thursday in a New York City hospital following a brief illness, according to his son Morgan Margolis. Based on the statement, Morgan Margolis, his son and the actor’s wife of 61 years, Jacqueline Margolis, were by his side when he took his last breath at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Film Fraternity And Fans Pay Tribute To Mark Margolis
The official account of the series ‘Breaking Bad‘ paid their respect to Mark Margolis in a post that read: “We join millions of fans in mourning the passing of the immensely talented Mark Margolis, who – with his eyes, a bell, and very few words – turned Hector Salamanca into one of the most unforgettable characters in the history of television. He will be missed.”
In another statement, his manager since 2007 Robert Kolker spoke of him and said “He was one of a kind”. Kolker referred to him as his ‘lifelong friend’. Further, he said, “We won’t see his likes again … I was lucky to know him.”

Mark Margolis’ Successful Career
The actor had a successful career in acting and leaves behind a legacy of great characters. Mark Margolis was nominated for an Emmy in 2012 for his role as Salamanca, the old don of his drug gang who lost his ability to speak or walk due to a stroke. Much of his character’s past was eventually revealed in ‘Better Call Saul‘, the prequel in which he appeared from 2016 to 2022.
Margolis was also recognized for a number of film appearances, most notably in Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Noah’, ‘Black Swan’, ‘The Wrestler’, and ‘Pi‘. He also portrayed Alberto “The Shadow” in the film ‘Scarface‘. Other films in which she appeared include ‘The Thomas Crown Affair‘, ‘Gone Baby Gone‘, and ‘Stand Up Guys‘.
His career started in 1976 with a small role in The Opening of Misty Beethoven. After several small roles in TV and movie alike, the actor got his big break by starring in ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation‘ as Dr. Nel Apgar. He also acted in plays.
