Marvel Studios Is Considering ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ Star For The Role Of Cyclops In X-Men Reboot

The rumors surrounding Marvel Studios’ X-Men reboot keep on adding, and the latest name in the mix is ‘Avatar’ franchise star Jack Champion. According to a trusted insider, Champion is being considered for the role of Cyclops, the iconic leader of the X-Men.

While no official confirmation has been made, the rumor has already sparked intense debate among fans. With Marvel seemingly going for a younger version of the X-men, fans don’t know what to expect.

According to insider MyTimeToShine, Jack Champion, best known for playing Miles “Spider” Socorro in ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ is being considered for the role of the Iconic X-Men leader Cyclops. If cast, he would be a younger take on the character compared to James Marsden’s version.

Additionally, this report follows another rumor that Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is being eyed for Jean Grey. With Champion being just 20 and Sink being  22, it seems Marvel Studios might be looking to introduce a younger version of the X-Men.

However, as of now, this remains just a rumor. The insider did not confirm any casting and Champion’s Cyclops is a work in progress. Moreover, with ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ expected to serve as a major reset for the MCU, Marvel Studios seems in no rush to finalize its new X-Men lineup.

Over the years, Cyclops has been in multiple live-action movies and animated series. However, most of them have outright failed to portray the “Natural Born Leader” of X-men. Oftentimes, Wolverine takes center stage, sidelining Cyclops.

Fans who actually read comics know how Cyclops’ leadership, fighting, and combat skills are much better than what they have seen on the screen. Other than being Jean’s boyfriend he has done nothing which doesn’t do any justice to his charismatic character.

However, recently in ‘X-Men ’97,’ the creators finally showed how cool and quirky Cyclops is. His jumping without a parachute and using his beam was way too cool. He also cracked some of the wittiest jokes in the series and was shown as the true leader of the team.
