The 2024 Paris Olympics started with a grand opening ceremony that left everyone spellbound. From performances by Lady Gaga, and Celine Dion to Snoop Dogg carrying the Olympic torch, it has been incredible. However, it is not without controversy.
One of the performances has especially caused outrage among the netizens. It wass a parody of the Last Supper by drag queens. This mockery of Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous painting has not been met with cheers and claps from netizens.

Drag Queens Perform A Parody Of The Last Supper
During the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, 18 performers re-created Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting depicting Jesus Christ’s final meal with his disciples before his crucifixion. Drag queens dressed in extravagant outfits depicted the scene sitting at a long table.

The official site of the Olympics wrote on X that the burlesque performance was an “interpretation of the Greek God [of wine and festivity] Dionysus” to make viewers “aware of the absurdity of violence between human beings.”
The most striking feature of the scene was a half-naked performer painted blue with only vines covering his genitals sitting in the middle of the table and surrounded by flowers. While another performer was dressed with a big halo atop her head and sat behind a long table.

Netizens Did Not Take The Performance Lightly
The extravagant performance by the drag queens has met with social media outrage. Viewers called the performance “crazy,” and Christian commentators are not taking it lightly. Journalist Kyle Becker also wrote on X that “the 2024 Paris Olympics has gone full Woke dystopian.”
Becker also added, “The opening ceremony was filled with transgender mockery of the Last Supper, the Golden Calf idol, and even the Pale Horse from the Book of Revelation.“ Becker also said, “The Olympics has made it clear that Christian viewers aren’t welcome.”

Many people showed concern about the children there and how this will affect them. In addition, they believe that this was completely unnecessary to have in the opening ceremony and it could’ve been removed whatsoever. Amid boycott calls, authorities have started their damage control and will be trying to lighten things up.
