Scarlet Witch Actor Elizabeth Olsen Has “No Idea What Happens” In ‘Marvel Zombies’

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has created some of the most memorable characters of the last two decades, and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch is undeniably one of them. From her tragic beginnings to her descent into darkness, she has become a cornerstone of MCU storytelling.

Recently, Olsen admitted she forgot she was involved in ‘Marvel Zombies,’ and it immediately sparked curiosity and speculation.

Elizabeth Olsen Forgot Recording Her ‘Marvel Zombies’ Role

During a panel appearance at LA Comic Con, Elizabeth Olsen was asked about her role in the newly released animated Disney+ series ‘Marvel Zombies’. Her response was both candid and unintentionally hilarious. “I truly recorded that years ago, I can’t remember anythin, I need to watch it. I have no idea what happens in Marvel Zombies.. It’s my voice. I did it in my house, I wasn’t even in an office space. “

This must have been 2020, 2021? Why was I working in my house and not in a studio? I really have no idea what it was like. I’m so sorry,” she added. Her comments also make perfect sense in context. If her voice recording happened during 2020 or 2021, it likely took place during lockdown, an era when actors were often recording from makeshift home setups.

Between the uncertainty of the pandemic, the pace of MCU productions, and the long pipeline for animation releases, it’s no wonder the session slipped her mind. She has since voiced Wanda in ‘What If…?’, shot ‘Multiverse of Madness’, and wrapped press for ‘WandaVision’, which earned her Golden Globe and Emmy nominations. In other words, the Scarlet Witch hasn’t exactly been on pause.

In ‘Marvel Zombies,’ Wanda plays a pivotal antagonist, continuing from her zombie variant’s introduction in ‘What If…?’ season 1. Although she doesn’t have as much screen time as characters like Ms. Marvel or Shang-Chi, her impact is massive within the story’s four episodes. Given how brief and remote her voice session likely was, it’s not surprising Olsen didn’t retain much memory of the recording.

Infinity Hulk In ‘Marvel Zombies’ Doesn’t Come From The Comics

While Elizabeth Olsen’s comments brought a wave of amusement, the show itself made a different kind of impact, especially with the introduction of Infinity Hulk. In the animated storyline, the world is overrun by a zombie plague, and the remaining heroes face off against a zombified Thanos wielding the Infinity Gauntlet. To stop him, King T’Challa sacrifices himself in the Vibranium core. However, the explosion destroys the Infinity Stones and releases a surge of energy devastating enough to tear the world apart.

That’s when Bruce Banner steps in. In a dramatic act of self-sacrifice, Bruce absorbs all the unleashed Infinity Stone energy into himself, transforming into what fans dubbed the Infinity Hulk. Acting as a living anchor, he contains the cataclysmic force and prevents planetary annihilation. It’s one of the most emotionally powerful and visually stunning send-offs for Banner in any Marvel adaptation. However, here’s the surprising twist: Infinity Hulk doesn’t exist in Marvel Comics.

This version of the Hulk was created purely for the animated series and is not pulled from any established comic storyline. That said, Marvel has a history of adapting popular animated or film concepts into comics post-launch. For now, though, Infinity Hulk remains an original narrative invention, crafted specifically to give ‘Marvel Zombies’ an epic storyline. His role not only pays tribute to Hulk’s legacy but also reframes Bruce Banner’s internal struggle through a new lens.
