What Happened To Hunter Moore?
Hunter Moore’s website, IsAnyoneUp.com, was very controversial and distressing to many people. However, at that time, revenge porn was not illegal in many states in the United States. Unfortunately, many people complained that their computers were hacked and they did not really send any nudes to anyone. One woman, Charlotte Laws took matters in her own hands when her daughter’s nudes went viral.
The woman contacted the other victims of the website and started an FBI investigation on the matter. The investigation went on for almost four years. After its conclusion, the FBI arrested Moore in 2014. He was charged with conspiracy, unauthorised access to a protected computer, and aggravated identity theft. In the end, Moore pled guilty to aggravated identity theft charges and for the unauthorised access to a protected computer charge.
Where Is ‘The Most Hated Man On The Internet’ Now?
Hunter got a sentence of two years and six months in jail. He had to pay a fine of $2,000 along with a restitution fee of $145.70. Not only that the man was also banned from using any form of social media. Moore got out of the prison in May 2017 and entered a three-year period of supervised probation upon his release. He self-published a book called ‘Is Anyone Up?!: The Story of Revenge Porn’ in 2018. Now the man is 36 years old and has maintained a low profile. He is now also making EDM tracks, one of which he named ‘Make The Internet Great Again‘.
What Happened To IsAnyoneUp.com?
Apparently, Moore sold the website just 16 months after the launch to an entrepreneur named James McGibney. However, under the new ownership, the revenge porn website has been redirected to an anti-bullying website. “Sometimes you need to be a bully to beat a bully and I’m the first to admit that I intellectually bullied the ever-loving s**t out of you,” the new owner wrote to Moore in an open letter. “Your main stated objective was to ‘ruin’ young girls’ lives. Even after they indicated that they were going to commit suicide if their unauthorised naked images weren’t removed from your website, you laughed in their faces.”
